Please note Indian passport holders with a US tourist visa (B2) can also fly on Qatar Airways from India to USA. Members of US armed forces and their dependents including spouses and children are eligible for Qatar Airways’ India-USA flights.

On inbound Qatar Airways flights from USA to India, all Indian nationals and US citizens (with/without OCI cards) can travel. US citizens without OCI/PIO cards need to have a valid visa to enter India. Please note entry into India on tourist visas (electronic/paper format) issued before October 6, 2021, and medical visas issued on or before October 21, 2020, is currently prohibited.

India’s guidelines for travelers transiting in Doha

Both the USA and Qatar being countries not at risk, fully-vaccinated, asymptomatic travelers arriving from the USA and through Qatar are not subject to rigorous regulations in India. If you are fully-vaccinated, COVID-negative and asymptomatic, you are exempt to mandatory RT-PCR testing on arrival in India. India’s guidelines for incoming international travelers permit quarantine-free stay to fully-vaccinated, asymptomatic travelers from countries not at risk. Only self-monitoring of health applies to you for 14 days post arrival in India.

There is no restriction on selection of destinations.

Those who will receive an exclusive promo code for Qatar Airways’ complimentary tickets upon filling out the offer registration form online must have a valid employment ID in order to travel. No printed or photo copies of the employment ID will be accepted at the airport check-in desk. Their employment details and personal information should match what is furnished in the registration form.

After receiving the promo code, an eligible healthcare professional can book maximum 2 return economy tickets of Qatar Airways flights for free: one ticket for himself/herself and one for a companion. If the medical professional cancels his or her booking, the ticket for the companion will also be cancelled automatically.

Each of the new seats in Qatar Airways economy travel class has two tray tables: a foldable tray table of standard size and a smaller tray table with cup holder and non-slip surface. A new complimentary visa scheme for inbound and outbound travelers on Qatar Airways flights transiting through Hamad International Airport in Doha came into effect today, November 1, 2016. The new transit visa permits free entry to Qatar for a stay of 5 to 96 hours. All transiting passengers of Qatar Airways flights from USA to India and on other routes through Doha can apply for it, regardless of their nationalities.

Announced in late September this year, the free 4-day transit visa is a tourist-friendly initiative by Qatar Tourism Authority and Qatar Airways in collaboration. It is expected to popularize Qatar as a tourist-friendly destination and get more international travelers. Approval of all visa applications is subject to the sole discretion of Qatar’s Ministry of Interior.

The new free transit visa to Qatar can be applied for online or at Qatar Airways’ offices. Qatar Airways has revised its fares for all international flights having layovers in Doha to woo international tourists with the new visa scheme. Travelers can have a layover at Hamad Airport for 96 hours and make the most of the new transit visa without paying any additional fee.

However, the free transit visa to Qatar comes with an exception. Those traveling on Qatar Airways’ outbound flights from Bahrain, Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Jordan, Lebanon, Oman, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, South Sudan and the UAE can have the new visa for free stopover in Doha only during the outward journey. The facility is not available on the return.

New Free Transit Visa to Qatar: Eligibility Requirements and Conditions

• Qatar Airways’ all transiting passengers including infants must have individual passports with minimum 6-month validity from the time of arrival in Qatar.
• A vivid copy of one’s passport must be submitted along with one’s application at a Qatar Airways office or through the airline’s website.
• Applications for the new visa will be processed within 7 business days (excluding public holidays).
• The 4-day free transit visa to Qatar will remain valid for 90 days or 3 months from the date of issuance for a single entry only.
• The validity of the visa cannot be extended beyond 90 days. A fresh application is mandatory.
• Passengers must produce a clear copy of the new transit visa while boarding Qatar Airways flights and at the time of arrival in Doha.
• The new transit visa for free layover can be availed with confirmed tickets only for Qatar Airways flights transiting through Doha, not turnaround flights to and from Doha.
• The duration of layover in Doha cannot be extended beyond 96 hours as per the policy of the new 96-hour free transit visa to Qatar.
• Visa applications must be submitted minimum 7 days prior to one’s scheduled travel on Qatar Airways.
• Qatar’s immigration ministry reserves the right to grant or deny entry to Qatar and free layover in Doha, which Qatar Airways is not responsible for.
• If visa rejection or delayed visa issuance incurs additional expenses or loss to an international traveler, Qatar Airways is not liable for it.

The airline has revised and updated its inflight entertainment content for international flights. In a bid to engage passengers with refreshing entertainment on board, Qatar Airways has increased the number of programs and the volume of the IFE content. Currently the inflight entertainment system airs 3000 programs on international Qatar Airways flights.

The national carrier of Qatar in the Middle East, the airline has added new 1000 programs to the bouquet of 2000 entertainment choices. The newly added programs include movies, music, TV shows, news and games. The updated edition of the inflight entertainment content comprises 550 movies, 1000 audio albums, 1400 TV series and 50 games for Qatar Airways flights on international routes.

A Force Awakens, the recently released Star Wars movie, is one of the movies among the new programs added to the content of Qatar Airways’ inflight entertainment system. Passengers can choose to watch all Harry Potter films, 10 James Bond films including the latest one Spectre and a complete set of Marvel movies from the updated version on international Qatar Airways flights.

One of the best Middle East airlines, Qatar Airways had updated its inflight entertainment content last in the beginning of 2015. Some of the most popular films from the previous editions like A Walk Among the Tombstones, The Good Lie, Very Bad Day, Horrible, No Good, The Search for Happiness, The Book of Life, and Alexander and the Terrible are still aired on the airline’s Oryx Entertainment Screen.

Passengers can choose to watch the episodes of “New Girl”, one of the popular American television series, which were added to the 2015 version of the inflight entertainment content for Qatar Airways flights. I am Ali and Now: In the Wings of a World Stage, two of the documentaries from the 2015 edition are still available among the programs in the new version. I am Ali is a biopic on Muhammad Ali, a legendary boxer.

Qatar Airways’ check-in baggage policy is more generous than that of other international airlines. The First Class and Business Class passengers can check in two pieces of baggage weighing up to 64 kg in total, on flights to and from the USA, Canada and Argentina. Two pieces of baggage with a maximum weight of 46 kg are allowed in the Economy Class, on the same flights. Moreover, Qatar Airways’ baggage allowance for excess check-in baggage is comparatively lower in the same market.
