All the speculations about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to USA for a meeting with President Donald Trump came to an end with the confirmation of his travel in the last week of this month (June 2017). It will be PM Modi’s first visit to Washington DC in the Trump administration post the US elections 2016. PM Modi’s first meeting with President Trump is scheduled between June 25 and 27.

Both Indians at home and in the US are sanguine about Narendra Modi’s visit to USA and meeting with Donald Trump in June 2017 as it is set to take place when the White House’s stand on H1B visa and optional practical training (OPT) is a big global issue. India’s rejection of the US government’s Paris accord charge is another matter in the background of PM Modi’s visit to USA in June 2017.

According to the schedule of PM Modi’s visit to USA in June 2017, which is not yet fully reveled, he will have an official welcome at the White House and a couple of meetings with the lawmakers in the Trump administration. However, a previously planned visit to Houston for a meeting with leading activists from the Indian community in USA has been removed from PM Modi’s schedule of US visit.

The White House’s recent executive orders to reform H1B visa norms and restrict inflow of foreign workers on US employment visas have thrown the Indian IT sector out of gear. India’s leading IT giants including Wipro, Infosys and TCS, who are the biggest users of H1B visas and who hit the panic button for the US government’s latest work visa policy, are looking up to Narendra Modi’s visit to USA in June 2017 for a positive change.

PM Modi’s upcoming meeting with President Trump has given rise to expectations regarding India’s stand against hate crimes to Indians in USA. When Srinivas Kuchibhotla, an aviation engineer from Hyderabad, was gunned down in the Kansas shooting, certain groups of Indians expressed unhappiness about the way India’s External Ministry of Affairs responded to the shocking incident.

The schedule of PM Modi’s upcoming US visit in June 2017 also includes a round-table meeting with the CEOs of leading American companies. However, the White House has not yet issued any press release about PM Modi’s meeting with President Trump. Reportedly, Donald Trump invited Narendra Modi to visit the United States after a telephonic discussion about bilateral ties between two countries in January 2017.

During his two-day trip to Washington DC, PM Modi will address a joint session of the US Congress and hold talks with President Obama at the White House on June 7-8. He will also meet the Indian American community in Washington DC.

PM Narendra Modi’s schedule in Washington DC includes a bilateral meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss progress of the US-India relationship in key areas such as economy, security, defense, energy and climate change, according to a statement by Josh Earnest, the White House Press Secretary. Both the US President and the Indian Prime Minister will assess the progress of their collaborations in clean energy, climate change, security & defense and economic growth projects.

“We are excited to welcome PM Modi to our city. It is the biggest of all Washington DC events in June for the Indian American community,” said Sunil Singh, who heads a 60-member committee comprising leaders of the Indian American organizations in Washington Metropolitan Area. A 100-member group of high-profile Indian Americans is expected to welcome PM Modi at the Andrews Air Force Base on June 6.

When Narendra Modi will be addressing the joint session of the US Congress at the White House on June 8, nearly one thousand members of the Washington DC based Indian American community will watch the proceedings from Capitol Hill. Only the invitees of the US Congress members will be present at the White House during the session. Sunil Singh, a prominent NRI businessman, said that PM Modi’s speech and his discussion with President Obama would be shown live on large screens for those outside the White House.

PM Narendra Modi’s schedule in Washington DC may include a speech to the Indian American community since the NRI committee led by Sunil Singh has requested the Indian Embassy for it. Transport will be arranged from Maryland and the suburbs of Washington DC to Capitol Hill for the community members. The same group of prominent Indian Americans will see off PM Modi at the Andrews Air Force Base on June 8.

Paul Ryan, the Speaker of the US House of Representative, has reportedly invited the Prime Minister of India for a ceremonial lunch after the congressional session at the White House. It is also reported that Arun Kumar Singh, Indian ambassador to the United States, is planning to host reception for Prime Minister Modi on June 7.

PM Modi will leave for Washington DC after a two-day visit to Qatar on June 5 and 6.

In 2015, the Narendra Modi style was the talk of the fashion world. Since his rise to the hot seat of India’s Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has made headlines for not only diplomacy, controversies and foreign trips but also his traditional Indian fashion. Over 40 African leaders donned signature “Modi Kurtas” in silk and “Modi Jackets” in khadi for a dinner at the third India-Africa summit in New Delhi.

In 2016, the Narendra Modi fashion will be put on display at Madame Tussauds Wax Museums in London, Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Who will be exhibiting the “Modi Kurtas” and “Modi Jackets” at those wax museums? The wax statues of Indian PM Narendra Modi himself!

Yes, soon Indian PM Narendra Modi’s life-size wax figures dressed in his signature silk kurtas and khadi jackets will share space with eminent global leaders at Madame Tussauds museums in Singapore, Bangkok, London and Hong Kong from April 2016. A team of Madame Tussauds’ artists took 4 months to craft each of PM Modi’s wax statues for a whopping $214K or £150,000. The statues feature a traditional pose making namaste with both hands joined in supplication. (watch the video below to see the making of Narendra Modi’s wax statues)

Since being elected to the prime ministerial office in 2014, Narendra Modi has made foreign trips to the US, the UK, the UAE, China, Canada, Singapore, Japan, France, Brazil, Germany, Malaysia and other countries. Now his traditional Indian fashion in khadi will be stealing the show at Madame Tussauds wax museums.

What made Madame Tussauds to spend a lavish amount of $214K for each of his wax figures?

In response to the mounting curiosity and excitement about it, Madame Tussauds described Narendra Modi as “a hugely important figure in world politics” and said that visitors would be glad to click selfies with the wax idols of such a great leader. Besides, PM Modi is currently the second most followed politician on Twitter next to the US President Barack Obama.

Where and when were the wax figures of Narendra Modi crafted? It happened at his own residence in New Delhi where he gave the museum team of artists and experts a sitting, according Kieran Lancini, the spokesperson of Madame Tussauds. Praising the team for its dedication and professionalism, the Indian Prime Minister said that he had the pleasure of standing next to the figures of various dignitaries for photographs during my visits to Madame Tussauds’ wax museums.

There is nothing surprising about the wax statues of Indian PM Narendra Modi at Madame Tussauds museums in Singapore, London, Thailand and Bangkok since he is among the most influential people on Internet. Time Magazine refers to him as an ‘Internet Star’ with over 32 million Facebook likes and 18 million Twitter followers. PM Modi has been on Time Magazine’s list of the most influential people on Internet for two consecutive years: 2015 and 2016.

PM Narendra Modi’s upcoming visit to California and New York in the last week of September 2015 has already got Indian Americans into discussions about his arrival. On his second trip to the United States from September 23 to 28, the Prime Minister of India will meet Indian American entrepreneurs in San Francisco Bay Area, deliver a speech at Stanford University in California, and have meetings at the United Nations in New York. Narendra Modi is the first Indian PM to visit the Silicon Valley in 33 years, according to the Indo American Community of West Coast, a non-profit promoting organization in the USA.

As per his schedule during the visit to the United States, PM Modi will address an Indian American community of 20,000 members at SAP Centre in San Jose, California. It is also speculated that he may pay a visit to offices of Google and Facebook in the Silicon Valley. President Barack Obama will hold a bilateral meeting with him on September 28.

About 400 representations of 160 organizations have already met up to discuss how they will welcome PM Modi to San Francisco Bay Area, which is home to about five lakhs of Indian Americans. Venkatesan Ahsok, General Consul in India in San Francisco; Taranjit Singh Sandhu, Deputy Chief of Mission Ambassador, and Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of BJP were among the big heads in attendance in the meeting. They came up with a registration process to issue passes to those willing to attend the event in the Bay Area and meet PM Modi.

Among former prime ministers of India, Jawaharlal Nehru and Morarji Desai visited San Francisco Bay Area in 1949 and 1978 respectively. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan was the first President of India to visit Silicon Valley in 1963. – Indian Eagle

During the meeting on August 9, Venkatesan Ashok issued mandate to the Indo American Community of West Coast for planning the event and uniting all organizations to make PM Modi’s arrival a grand success. All the representatives in attendance emphasized on the presence of diverse Indian American communities, irrespective of culture, religion, language and profession. Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of BJP, stated that the event to be organized in interest of PM Modi’s arrival would facilitate the unity, prosperity and security of both Indian Americans and Indians.

PM Narendra Modi’s visit to California in September is highly expected to promote the ideals of entrepreneurship and innovation between India and Silicon Valley. A high possibility of empowering the economy of India through collaboration with Silicon Valley’s Indian American entrepreneurs and sharing of their technological expertise is anticipated, too. The Indo American Community of West Coast’s event in reception of PM Modi will connect the world’s biggest hub of technology-based entrepreneurship and India, the world’s largest consumer market.
