Emirates’ Premium Economy Class

Emirates, one of the best airlines for USA to India travel, is the only Middle East carrier with premium economy offering. Emirates Airlines’ Premium Economy on double-decker A380 flights to Mumbai, Bengaluru, New York, San Francisco, Houston, and Los Angeles has won Skytrax World Airline Awards for the best-in-class seats, amenities and services. Our comparative guide on Premium Economy: Emirates vs Air India will enlighten you more.

Emirates’ Premium Economy cabins have 19.5-inch wide seats with 40 inches of legroom and 8 inches of recline – which is the best in this category. The golden beige hued interior oozes sophistication. You can rest your back against a fluffy pillow and adjust the headrest in six different ways to elevate your comfort level for some good sleep during a long-haul flight.

Premium Economy travel with Emirates flight tickets is worth an upgrade from standard economy also for superior inflight entertainment on 13.5-inch HD screens, and certain privileges like priority check-in and expedited boarding.

Japan Airlines Premium Economy

“JAL SKY Premium Economy seats are second to none in functionality and privacy. Among the airlines with best premium economy travel cabins, Japan Airlines takes the lead by offering 42-inch legroom and 16-inch personal screens – the best in class. The best of JAL SKY Premium is available on the airline’s brand-new A350-1000 that is deployed for flights to Dallas and New York,” said the chief ticketing officer of Indian Eagle Travel.

Japan Airlines’ A350-1000 aircraft has Premium Economy seats with significant upgrades from that on other aircraft in the fleet. You get to relax on electric seats with effortless recline and motorized leg rests that rise up to 90 degrees. Your privacy is taken better care of with larger dividers between seats as in the business class. The same fold-out divider between seats is available in the JAL Premium Economy cabin on B787-9 that the airline uses to operate flights to New Delhi.

The perks of booking Japan Airlines Premium Economy tickets to India or USA include access to JAL lounges at Tokyo Narita, Tokyo Haneda, and Osaka Kansai airports in Japan. ENCALM Prive Lounge at Indira Gandhi Airport, and 080 Lounge at Kempegowda BLR Airport are also accessible to premium economy passengers of JAL flights to/from Bengaluru and New Delhi. Special check-in counter access and priority baggage service are cherries on the cake for those flying premium economy with JAL.

Singapore Airlines’ Premium Economy Class

Singapore Airlines is the one that can compete with Emirates Premium Economy on long-haul routes. It has all the makings of best premium economy class seats to India and USA, such as ample room to stretch out, adjustable personal reading light, in-seat USB ports, noise-cancelling headphones, etc. The seats with soft leather upholstery are cozy enough to make you feel at home in the sky. The USP of Singapore Airlines Premium Economy cabins is restaurant-like inflight dining service at the cruising altitude. Starting from April 2024, the airline has been serving meals from its enhanced menu designed by award-winning chefs from different countries, including India. You can pre-order a main course of your choice from Singapore Airlines’ Book the Cook menu, at least 24 hours prior to your flight (with minimum 15 hours of travel time). The airlines pampers the tastebuds of premium economy travelers to/from India with chicken biryani, garlic roasted prawns, apple crumble cheesecake and likes from its new menu of over 200 dishes.

Hours of absolute entertainment over a vast content library consisting of 1800 movies, TV programs, music, and games on 13.3-inch HD touchscreen monitors complement the experience of flying Premium Economy on Singapore Airlines flights to India and USA.

Lufthansa’s Premium Economy Class

More room, more comfort, more attention, and more free baggage define Lufthansa Airlines’ Premium Economy cabins. Each seat has a cocktail table at the armrest, adjustable footrest, and 11-12 inch inflight entertainment screen. In Lufthansa Premium Economy, the seats offer 8 inches of recline, 38 inches of pitch, and width of 18-19 inches for optimum comfort. The seat lets you recline without encroaching the space of the passenger behind you. The headrest, leg rest and armrest can be adjusted as per your convenience.

Lufthansa’s new Allegris travel cabins with pod-like Premium Economy seats have set a benchmark for other premium economy airlines. The Allegris Premium Economy cabins being rolled out on Airbus A350s and B787 Dreamliners have 15.6-in 4K entertainment monitors with discreet screen. You can relax in a comfy position and tune in to nonstop streaming of content or read/work under a personal reading light during long-haul travel on Lufthansa flights.

“Bengaluru and San Francisco are the first to see the brand-new Allegris cabins with premium economy seats, among the destinations of Lufthansa flights to India and USA this year. You can check-in two bags for free when traveling Lufthansa Premium Economy; a great advantage over Lufthansa’s economy flights with one piece of checked baggage,” said the chief customer experience officer of IndianEagle.com.

Air India’s Premium Economy on Nonstop Flights

In a very short time following its launch in June 2023 for nonstop US-India flights, Air India’s Premium Economy has earned rave reviews. All thanks to Air India CEO Campbell Wilson’s vision and Tata Group’s takeover of the airline! Everyone from regular travelers to celebs like Chef Vikas Khanna praised Air India’s service on Boeing 777-200LRs (leased from Delta Airlines) which have 48 leather-upholstered Premium Economy seats with big IFE screens, better seat pitch and greater seat recline.

The blue-hued premium economy cabins are available on Air India flights from New York to Mumbai, and San Francisco to Bengaluru, as well as Mumbai.

With its brand new A350-900s taking to the skies, Air India is all set to up its Premium Economy game by late 2024. This long-range, widebody aircraft has 24 Premium Economy seats other than 28 full-flat luxury beds in Business Class. Read our in-depth coverage for more details of Air India’s A350s and take a walk through the aircraft in our short video. Once it hits long-haul international routes, it will be among the best premium economy airline cabins for travel between USA and India.

Cathay Pacific’s Premium Economy

Of the best premium economy airlines, Cathay Pacific stands out for offering such perks as dedicated check-in lines and priority boarding, other than super comfy seats with 40 inches of legroom on board. The airline has started rolling out newly designed premium economy seats with 20 inches of width – the best in the industry – on its fleet of B777-300ERs. The leather-padded seats come with full-length leg rests, USB ports, spacious tray tables, and 15-inch wide monitor screens with Bluetooth audio pairing.

The larger tray table makes dining and working a lot more comfortable in Premium Economy on Cathay Pacific flights to India, USA and other destinations. In 2023, Skytrax Awards (the Oscars in aviation) ranked Cathay Pacific as one of the top 10 airlines with best premium economy class seats.

Global aviation has recently got a peek into the upcoming premium economy cabin unveiled by Singapore Airlines. The brand new premium economy cabin will be launched on Singapore’s National Day that is August 9. It will be rolled out on select flights between Singapore and Sydney, initially. Passengers flying to London Heathrow and Manchester will experience the new cabin from August 28 and September 22 respectively.

Singapore Airlines will gradually roll out the new premium economy cabin on flights to Delhi, Beijing, Hong Kong, London, Mumbai, Frankfurt, New York, Shanghai, Zurich and Tokyo. A380 and B777-300ER in Singapore Airlines’ fleet will be equipped with the new cabin. The upcoming A350 aircraft will be equipped too. The cabin will have 28 seats.

The new premium economy cabin will be furnished with leather seats whose width will range from 18.5 inches to 19.5 inches. The seats will have an 8-in recline. The new premium economy seats will be complemented with 13.3-in full HD monitor screens, which according to Singapore Airlines, are the largest in its class. However, the premium economy seats will have different widths on different aircrafts – A380 and B777-300ER. But the premium economy cabin’s inflight entertainment system will be the same on all aircrafts. Only the B777-300ER will have inflight entertainment systems with touchscreen capabilities in the new premium economy cabin.

The premium economy seats will come with a few amenities including calf rest, foot-bar, power outlets, USB ports, in-seat reading light, cocktail table and extra stowage area to ensure high-level convenience for passengers. Also, the seats will be accessorized with branded cushions and blankets. Singapore Airlines’ premium economy cabin will be fitted with features and facilities as per travelers’ needs on board.

Singapore Airlines is looking to introduce an exclusive “dining concept” in order to take the premium economy to a new high. A premium economy book “The Cook” will be introduced. The premium economy travelers can take picks from “The Cook” selection and the current standard menu as well. They can order their preferred meals prior to boarding.

The premium economy passengers will be offered champagne just like icing on the cake. Champagne will be available throughout the flight in contrast to periodical offering of drinks by other airlines. With this unique inflight service, Singapore Airlines will stand out from its competitors.

The premium economy travelers will be allowed to check in with baggage up to 35kg, which is 5kg more than the baggage limit in the Economy Class.

Singapore Airlines is all set to redefine comfort, luxury, hospitality and travel experience for the flyers of First Class, Business Class and Economy Class too, by upgrading the infrastructure and interior of the cabins. The national carrier of Singapore has recently announced a whopping investment of 325 million dollars for installing advanced seats and entertainment systems in the cabins of all travel classes on 19 Boeing 777-300ERs to make air travel more comfortable and enjoyable.

Singapore airlines latest news, travel class details of singapore airlines, singapore airlines cheap flight booking online

This move by Singapore Airlines dates back to September 2013 when the airline added the new-age cabin to the first Boeing 777-300ER in the fleet. The extremely positive feedback from customers motivated the airline to extend the same infrastructural development plan across all Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in the fleet. The implementation plan will be implemented in 2015 and is supposed to be completed by September 2016.

On completion of the installation work, the First Class cabin will have seats with a fixed-back shell design for extra comfort and with curved side panels for added privacy. The First Class seats will be refurbished with ergonomically designed cushion and cozy upholstery, and accessorized with flexibly adjustable headrest and mood-lifting in-seat lighting. The seats will be rolled out as flat beds with 35-in width and 82-in length making the First Class cabin of Singapore Airlines one of the most spacious travel classes in the sky.

The new ergonomically cushioned seats in the Business Class will offer super flexibility to let flyers sit, work and relax in their preferred ways. 132-degree recline is another great highlight of the Business Class seats. The seats will roll out into full-flat beds with 78-in length. Stowage space for laptop and other amenities will be increased too.

Singapore Airlines has put the Economy Class in the fold of the infrastructural development plan, too. The new Economy Class seats will offer extra personal space and legroom for added comfort. The seats will be refurbished with cozy cushions for better neck support and enhanced backrest.

At present, Singapore Airlines uses Boeing 777-300ER with the new cabin to operate select daily flights to London Heathrow International Airport and Tokyo Narita International Airport.

“The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step”. The commercial flight from St. Petersburg to Tampa, Florida was the first single step towards bridging the corners of the world to make the farthest far, the far near, and the near nearer, on January 1, 1914. Yes, we are talking about the day when the seed of aviation (air travel) was sown. The seed gave birth to an ever-growing giant tree whose millions of boughs have crisscrossed the globe, over the years. The global aviation industry celebrated the centenary of the first commercial flight this January 1, 2014. Indian Eagle presents a chronicle of significant years from the history of aviation from 1914 to 2014.

Sometimes, we say that what is passed or gone is all history now. But, aviation has been continuing its journey towards an infinite height with a meteoric rise in the number of airlines, destinations, routes and flights since 1914. It has overcome many stumbling blocks and achieved many milestones on the way till date. Today it has made possible what was impossible 100 years back.

Piloted by Tony Jannus, the Airboat Line made the first passenger flight and reached Tampa in 23 minutes, which marked beginning of a new era in the history of civilization. St. Petersburg’s Mayor, Abram Pheil was the first air traveler. The 23-minute flight cost him what is US$9000 today.

KLM (Koninklijke Luchtvaart Maatschappij) Airlines, the world’s oldest airline and the national carrier of the Netherlands, operated its first flight in 1920. The KLM flights between London and Amsterdam carried 345 passengers and 25,000kg of cargo in the first year of the service.

1929 was the year of business air travel. General Pedro Nel Ospina, the then Columbia’s President, was the first to have made official business travel by air. Avianca, known as SCADTA then, operated the business travel flights for the government. It made air travel the lifeline of transport across the geography of Latin America.

The year 1929 witnessed the introduction of the first international agreement, the Warsaw Convention which made flight ticketing and baggage checking mandatory. The laws of liability for airlines and passengers were initiated under the agreement.

In 1935, the first Transpacific flight between San Francisco and Manila was another milestone in the history of aviation. Operated by Pan Am, the flight carried over 100,000 pieces of mail to several stops on the way, and reached the destination in a week.

The year of 1936 witnessed a revolutionary change, made by American Airlines’ introduction of Douglas DC-3 in the world of aviation. The aircraft made the non-stop flight between New York and Chicago. The Douglas DC-3 cost American Airlines $100,000 then.

The first airport lounge was founded at LaGuardia Airport in New York, in 1939. It is American Airlines’ Admirals Club offering comfort to passengers on ground.

The year 1944 was marked by Chicago Convention in aviation. It introduced rules and regulations for the safety of aircraft and the protection of airspace. It was signed by 52 airlines.

One of the most significant years in the chronicle of aviation, 1945 witnessed the foundation of IATA in Havana, Cuba. Today, IATA is the backbone of the aviation industry, representing and leading 240 airlines through financial initiatives. In the same year, South African Airways operated the first Springbok service to bridge the distance between Africa and Europe.

In 1952, the first commercial jet flight by the de Havilland Comet saw the light of the day. The Comet made the last commercial flight in 1981. The models of the Comet jetliner improved in technology over the years.

The aviation world got the first inflight 16mm film system developed by David Flexer in 1961. TWA (Trans World Airlines) was the first airline to implement this innovation.

Arrival of the Beatles at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York in 1965 was one of the historic moments that the history of aviation has chronicled.

The aviation industry received its first wide-body aircraft, Boeing 747, in 1970. Pan Am operated the Boeing 747 to conduct flights between New York and London.

“The first wide-body aircraft, Boeing 747 flew between New York and London in 1970”

In 1971, Southwest Airlines was the first to have initiated low cost travel which changed the face of aviation to the benefit of passengers and introduced competition among the airlines.

In 1972, the first neutral paper ticket was conceptualized. Besides, the Billing and Settlement Plan was introduced to ensure the receipt of money for airlines and enable interline connectivity.

US Airline Deregulation Act was initiated to mark liberalization of the global aviation industry from the government control of fares, rules and routes and the entry of new airlines in the market.

In 1981, American Airlines launched the first frequent flyer program, “AAdvantage”, in the industry. It is one of the most popular frequent flyer programs in the world, today.

Air India, the national carrier of India, made it to the Guinness Book of World Records, for the evacuation of 111,000 people from Amman to Mumbai before the First Gulf War, in 1990. The airline in association with the Indian Air Force operated 488 flights in 59 days for this greatest effort.

The foundation of Star Alliance by 5 airlines from three continents took place in 1997. The alliance brought a number of benefits to passengers.

In 1998, Cathay Pacific operated the first transpolar flight to connect New York and Hong Kong through the Northern Polar region in only 16 hours, which became a legend in the aviation history.

Singapore Airlines operated its first non-stop flight between Newark and Los Angeles in 2004. When tsunami in the Indian Ocean rocked the south-east coastline of India endangering thousands of lives in 2004, the flight service became a pressing need to deliver the aid to the victims of tsunami.

Electronic ticketing, bag recovery, and self-boarding were some of the initiatives which were introduced to make air travel more convenient and comfortable for passengers in 2008.

In 2011, Lufthansa made a groundbreaking innovation by operating the first biofuel flight between Hamburg and Frankfurt. It was the first step towards ensuring environmental wellbeing of the aviation world.

Qatar Airways became the talk of the aviation world by launching the environment-friendly Airbus A350 for more efficient air travel of passengers, in 2014.

“History repeats itself”. “The wheels of time never stop”. “Earth never stops revolving around itself”. “The sky has no limit”. Likewise, the growth of aviation knows no bound. It will be making giant leaps to go up vertically.
