Qantas has spiced up its inflight entertainment for international passengers by having partnered with HBO, one of the most renowned TV services in the world. The airline has added to the inflight entertainment schedule hundreds of hours of the most popular TV programs such as “Game of Thrones”, “The Sopranos”, “True Detective”, and “Sex and the City”, run by HBO.

With the beginning of July, Qantas Airways’ inflight entertainment system started screening 120 hours of HBO programs including comedy shows and documentaries, on flights across the airline’s global network. Every month the entertainment schedule will be updated with 20 hours of the latest shows and movies from HBO.

Qantas’ inflight entertainment system has incorporated an HBO channel and three new Foxtel channels. The three Foxtel channels are Foxtel Entertainment, National Geographic and Lifestyle. These latest additions will be updated with fresh content every month, resulting in a volume of 160 hours of exclusive entertainment on board.

Qantas Airways strives to offer the best entertainment in the sky, according to Jo Boundy, Qantas’ Head of Digital Entertainment. He said eloquently, “Many passengers wish to make the most of their flights with Qantas Airways by watching their favorite or globally popular HBO shows on board. Only fresh content of entertainment from an exclusive selection of different programs can cater to different tastes.”

Quality and exclusivity of inflight entertainment are among the parameters of customer satisfaction for international airlines. For instance, Qatar Airways welcome the year 2015 by adding ten global blockbusters to its inflight entertainment schedule for both children and adults. Get ready for a whole new dining experience on Qantas’ international Economy flights later this month. Qantas, in a bid to redefine the joy of inflight dining for its Economy Class customers on long-haul routes, will serve a new menu with 50 percent larger servings. Besides, the new menu will have a huge choice of dishes, and the onboard catering service will be more efficient than before. Qantas, the national career of Australia, will first introduce the menu on the Melbourne-Dubai-London route this November 25.

Qantas’ new Economy Class menu for international passengers is designed by a team of culinary experts. The team researched on multiple different cuisines and tastes based on different aspects of human psychology for a year. Qantas has already put the menu to a test on a number of international flights. The menu has delivered on promises regarding customer satisfaction on those flights.

Smoky barbeque beef with roasted sweet potato; scrambled eggs with chicken sausage, tomato, and backed beans; honey roasted chicken farro salad with seasonal vegetables; Ruby & Roy’s traditional Greek yogurt with granola, and Weis ice cream are some of the dishes on the menu, which Qantas’ Economy Class passengers have thumbed up.

A refreshing drink of Bickford’s signature range will be served as a warm gesture of welcome to the passengers on board. The lemon, elderflower and pink grapefruit flavors of the drink are unique to Qantas’ inflight treatment. The airline also offers the pre-order meal facility to the Business Class passengers. This service is available in the Premium Economy Class too. Passengers can avail of the facility online within 7 days prior to their scheduled departure with Qantas.

The new menu is lighter on the stomach, delicious for the tongues and generous in meal size. We will also introduce such meal categories as ‘healthy food’, ‘comfort food’, and ‘food’ inspired by itineraries. The smoky barbecue beef is a dish from the third category. The meals will be served on new plates, not trays. It will make the inflight dining service faster than before by 30 minutes,” said Alan Joyce, CEO of Qantas Airlines. The new menu will be rolled out on the following routes on different dates:    

• Melbourne-Dubai-London: November 25
• Sydney-Dubai-London: November 26
• Tasman: November 28
• Perth-Auckland: December 5
• Flights to Los Angeles, New York & Dallas/Fort Worth: December 9
• Flights to Vancouver: January 3
• Singapore: January 13
• Hong Kong: February 10
• Flights to Bangkok, Shanghai, Manila, & Honolulu: March 1
• Santiago, Johannesburg, Narita, Jakarta & Noumea – March 1

In September this year, Qantas began to operate Airbus A380 on the world’s longest route between Sydney and Dallas /Fort Worth.

Three members of the Oneworld Alliance – Qantas Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airlines and British Airways – have jointly launched a luxury lounge for business travelers at Los Angeles International Airport. Stylish and spacious, the lounge has been named LAX Business Lounge after the code of the airport.

The interior décor of the Los Angeles Business Lounge exudes luxury in each detail of refurbishment and furnishing. The lounge’s classic and contemporary design is largely influenced by the cultural aspects of Australia, China, and the UK which the founder airlines – Qantas, Cathay Pacific and British Airways – represent respectively – in combination with that of California. The lobby having a communal fireplace in the middle is modeled like a central glasshouse with sprawling space lit by natural light.

The lounge integrates all modern trappings that promise uber comfort to business travelers. The lounge’s multi-cuisine dining area is a world-class food hub where the guests are served a menu of Californian dishes. There is a cocktail bar serving signature cocktails and wines too. Barista service is also available in the dining area. The new Los Angeles Lounge features modern workstations with Wi-Fi connection for business travelers. Guests can refresh themselves in shower suites equipped with spa amenities.

Qantas Airlines’ travelers can treat themselves to a huge selection of dining options at the LAX Business Lounge so that they can get maximum sleeping hours on overnight flights. Neil Perry, Qantas Airlines’ master chef, has mixed up their signature lounge dishes with delicacies from the Italian, Mexican, Chinese and Korean cuisines in the menus to be served to Qantas’ customers in Los Angeles Business Lounge.

The multimillion dollar lounge is a signature statement on luxury in service to travelers on ground by three leading airlines. The ambience of the lounge is ideal for relaxation, refreshment and work at a cozy pace. The sitting areas consist of well-refurbished, plush seats. Qantas Airlines has partnered with Sofitel to let guests experience the same service standards in Los Angeles as the Sydney, Melbourne, Hong Kong and Singapore lounge services. Qantas’ First Class travelers, Platinum Frequent Flyers and Oneworld Emerald members can enjoy a host of additional services including shirt pressing and shoe shining.

The development of Los Angeles Business Lounge is still in progress. The lounge can accommodate 400 guests, at the present phase. The capacity will be increased up to the strength of 600 guests, once all phases are fully developed in early 2015. Upon completion, it will have 16 shower suites in total and a dedicated family zone with space for kids. Qantas’s signature First Class Lounge with capacity for 200 guests is at the initial phase of refurbishment, at Los Angeles International Airport.
