No kiosk. No pause. Immigration clearance is getting smoother and faster for Global Entry members among international arrivals in the US. The CBP is testing a new camera tech to make Global Entry lanes a nonstop walkthrough for travelers. It eliminates stopping by a traditional kiosk for some members and makes Global Entry lanes feel like smooth, moving lines.
How new Global Entry camera tech works
During the pilot program at a few major airports, the new Global Entry setup includes mounted cameras to click pictures for facial verification when Global Entry members walk through dedicated lanes. The latest upgrade allows you to go through the passport control without stopping for a kiosk or the mounted camera.

US airports with new Global Entry camera tech
CBP is testing the kiosk-free camera capture technology at six major airports which support international flights on high-traffic routes across the world. The pilot started first at SFO Airport in April and would continue through September 2026.
- Boston Logan International Airport, BOS
- San Francisco International Airport, SFO
- Dallas Fort Worth International Airport, DFW
- John F. Kennedy International Airport, JFK
- Philadelphia International Airport, PHL
- Seattle-Tacoma International Airport, SEA
What it means for ‘Global Entry’ travelers
The Global Entry camera capture trials aim to keep inbound international travelers moving through the lanes. This advanced version of the Global Entry program for international arrivals to get verified is faster and more convenient. The same is reported by some customers of Indian Eagle, a leading air-ticketing partner of major airlines for best US-India flight deals. Yet, CBP officers reserve the right to let you simply walk through the lane or stop you at a physical kiosk.
Global Entry’s camera capture trial at major airports like SFO and JFK is a significant overhaul for international arrivals with short domestic connections within USA. It immensely helps on busy travel days and during peak hours. In 2024, the Global Entry mobile app made the arrival processing a lot easier by enabling the users to very their facial biometrics through a selfie. The camera capture technology makes the global entry processing not only faster but also super convenient.
Does Global Entry’s new camera tech support TSA PreCheck?
No. The latest camera upgrade to Global Entry lanes is only for international arrivals’ expedited customs processing. It neither upgrades not replaces TSA PreCheck, though TSA PreCheck (concerning pre-departure airport security) is part of the Global Entry program.
