Air India has opened bookings for its first-ever Easy Connect flights, marking the launch of the Government of India’s ambitious hub-and-spoke aviation model. The new service aims to simplify international travel for passengers from Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. Travelers can complete baggage check-in and immigration formalities at their origin airport before connecting seamlessly to international destinations. 

The first Easy Connect service will begin operations from Varanasi on 25 June 2026, with the model being rolled out in phases across multiple cities in the coming months.

Air India has announced a temporary rationalisation of services across several international routes from June to August 2026. The airline said the decision comes in response to continued airspace restrictions in certain regions and record high jet fuel prices affecting international operations.

According to the airline, these measures are intended to improve network stability and reduce last-minute inconvenience to passengers during a challenging operational period. 

Despite the temporary reductions, Air India will continue operating more than 1,200 international flights per month. Its network will still connect five continents with regular services to North America, Europe, the UK, Australia, Southeast Asia, the Far East, SAARC countries, and Mauritius.
