The feature is available under the Book and Manage tab on the airline website. A click on ‘Track Your Bags’ opens the page wherein you need to enter your booking reference number and your last name, or the bag tag number and flight number. Click on the submit button to get real-time notifications on the statue of your checked baggage from drop-off to destination. The ‘My Trips’ section of Air India’s mobile app has the same tracking feature that works through the scanning of the barcode on your baggage receipt.
Air India’s Checked Baggage Tracking feature starts working as soon as you check in your bags within 3 hours prior to the scheduled flight departure. It works until 24 hours after your scheduled arrival at the destination. If the domestic to international leg and the international to domestic leg in your itinerary are ticketed together, Air India lets you track your bags throughout the journey, from the first leg to the last leg.
Seamlessly accessible to all travelers, from economy to business class flights, the tracking feature covers key touchpoints – check-in, security clearance, aircraft loading, transfer, and arrival – in the journey of your checked baggage. Using the tool, you can monitor whether your bags are loaded onto the flight following the check-in and whether the bags are offloaded and transferred to the baggage claim area.
