Among 50 extraordinary destinations, the two famous places in India, Kerala and Ahmedabad, have recently been declared by TIME magazine as being among the World’s Greatest Places in 2022.
On one hand, the state of Kerala is located in southern India, along the western coast, a tiny state, but best known for its lush greenery, abundant coconut trees, houseboats, cool backwaters, and soothing ayurvedic treatments. On the other hand, Ahmedabad is a city in Gujarat in western India, and known for its cotton clothes, diamond-cutting, and mouthwatering snacks. It was the first city in India to be considered a UNESCO World Heritage site.
Both Kerala and Ahmedabad are the most beautiful tourist attractions in India listed in any tour guide. TIME magazine had declared the state of Kerala to be an ecotourism hot spot; and said, “With spectacular beaches and lush backwaters, temples, and palaces, it’s known as “God’s own country” for good reason.” It declared Ahmedabad to be a center for higher learning; and said, “Ahmedabad boasts both ancient landmarks and contemporary innovations that make it a mecca for cultural tourism, from the serene Gandhi Ashram that sits on 36 acres on the banks of the Sabarmati River to Navratri, a vibrant nine-day celebration (this year from Sept. 26 to Oct. 5) billed as the longest dance festival in the world.”
TIME magazine published the list of the World’s Greatest Places in 2022 on 12 July 2022. Kerala and Ahmedabad have taken the highest spots alongside such fantastic destinations as Seoul, South Korea and Bali, Indonesia. The topmost spot was taken by Ras Al Khaimah in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
