Air India is leaving no stone unturned to be the best airline in India. It is not only increasing flights on popular routes but is also adding new destinations to attract more passengers. The airline is giving tough competition to other carriers especially on the USA-India route. Air India and Alaska Airlines interline partnership is an example of how it wants to become a leading carrier offering flights from USA to India and vice versa. And now the long-grounded Air India fleet will likely be reinstated completely.

Boeing 787 and Airbus A320 Aircraft Reinstated in the Air India Fleet

Several long-grounded aircraft like the Boeing 787, 777 and a few Airbus A320s have already been included in the Air India fleet. With 95% of the jets already ready for operations, only two long-grounded aircraft are remaining.

Why were the aircraft grounded?

The jets were grounded due to engine shortages and unavailability of components. As there has been an improvement in the supply chain, the long-grounded Air India fleet can be reinstated. Apart from this, cabins of many aircraft were enhanced. Inflight entertainment systems were restored and cabin seats were refurbished.

Air India to Spend $400 Million in Refurbishing Aircraft

Air India aims to spend more than $400 million to fully refurbish its widebody aircraft fleet. With this, seats, curtains, carpets, lavatories, inflight entertainment etc. on nearly 43 Boeing 777 and 787 aircraft will be enhanced. The Air India flights may become even more comfortable after the changes have been made, which will  further improve passenger experience.

The restoration of the long-grounded Air India fleet has helped the airline increase flight frequency and also start operating on new routes. The new Air India Boeing 777 aircraft has already started offering services from USA to Mumbai. The new Airbus A320neo inducted in the Air India fleet can also help the airline further improve connectivity on popular routes.

You can travel through Air India on a budget by booking a cheap Indian Eagle flight from USA to India. You can get the best services and an uninterrupted journey by choosing one of the best flight booking companies as your travel partner.
