Morning flight operations at Delhi Airport to be disrupted for Republic Day rehearsals. The celebrations for India’s Republic Day on January 2026 every year sees significant security arrangements along with the aerial rehearsals affecting flight operations at Indira Gandhi International Airport

Starting January 21 through January 26, 2026, flights to and from Delhi will be halted each day from about 10:20 AM to 12:45 PM (IST). This pause is expected to last about 2 hours and 25 minutes each day.

Busiest Airport in India Pauses Operations for Republic Day Rehearsals

This timeframe coincides with one of the busiest parts of the day at IGIA, especially for connecting flights. Many domestic services arrive in the morning and feed into onward international departures around midday. Because operations pause during this peak period, delays, rescheduling, and cancellations are likely for both domestic and international flights to Delhi.

If you are traveling from global destinations like the USA, you must contact your respective airline or check the flight status to check if it’s affected. More than 600 scheduled flights could be affected over the six-day period. Airlines have already begun adjusting schedules, and as a traveler, you may see changes in departure or arrival times. Some flights that overlap the closure window may be moved to earlier or later slots, while a smaller number could be cancelled outright. You can also allow extra buffer time for connections and avoid tight same-day transfers that land or depart near the restricted hours.

Alternatively, you can also contact the Indian Eagle customer support team if you have booked your itinerary with us. Enquire if the Republic Day 2026 rehearsals have affected your flight. As the nation is inked in the patriotic spirit travel may be affected at the Indira Gandhi International Airport.
