TSA has come of age through technological advancements and passenger-friendly programs over the years. TSA PreCheck membership, TSA Cares, TSA’s Families on the Fly program have made airport security screening stress-free for travelers of different age groups. Recently, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) started a pilot trial of self-service e-Gates at Charlotte Airport for faster ID verification.

Did you know you can entirely skip TSA security lines for free? All you need to do is reserve a TSA security screening slot in advance. Many Americans and immigrants are not in the know of such lesser-known travel hacks as advance TSA screening time reservations. Available at select US airports, this free program offers a great relief during busy travel times of the year and government shutdowns when understaffed TSA security lanes feel overwhelming.

What is TSA screening time reservation?

Advance TSA screening reservation is a free service that lets you or a group of travelers to go through screening at a pre-booked designated time. Currently, only five US airports have free security reservation lanes to let you bypass long screening lines and wait times. Powered by CLEAR Reserve technology, this service can be availed through individual airport websites. It requires neither paid membership nor special clearance.
