The arrival of Airbus 330-300 High Gross Weight Jet in Manila marked the third phase of Philippines Airlines’ fleet upgradation plan. The plan began to take shape with the Airbus A321 at the narrow-body jet phase in August 2013. The cabin of Airbus A330-300 High Gross Jet with plush interior and high-end infrastructure complements the other offerings from the airline.

Fleet modernization with A330-300 aircraft in operation is aimed at the enhanced comfort and convenience of Business Class flyers among the target groups of Philippines Airlines. The aircraft is spacious enough to accommodate a total of 350 passengers in the Economy Class and 18 in the Business Class. Out of 350 passengers, 323 will be accommodated in the Economy Class and the rest 27 in the premium Economy Class.

Ease is the focus of modernization in the economy class of the Airbus A330-300 High Gross Jet. Backed with a unique mechanism, the Economy Class seats lift up when the back reclines. This novel mechanism has optimized legroom and made the seat back more comfortable than before.

The dimension of the Economy Class seats is 31 inches while that of the Premium Economy Class is 34 inches. The Business Class cabin of Airbus A330-300 High Gross Jet is equipped with Equinox 3D seats which are innovative in design, luxurious in style and high in comfort quotient. The press of a button makes the seat roll out into a 6-ft long and 2-ft wide full-flat bed. The seats are ergonomically designed to make business travelers feel like sleeping on a couch in comfort and privacy.

The Equinox 3D seats integrate the features such as USB port, power outlet, reading light, mood-ambient light, coat hook, retractable privacy divider, glass holder, and adequate stowage space that business travelers look for. Another highlight of the Equinox 3D mechanism is electrical seat controller.

The inflight entertainment is unique to the service of Philippine Airlines. The airline provides a wireless onboard system to let travelers while away their time by tuning to music, movies and TV programs on their personal devices. Philippine Airlines is the first carrier to offer complimentary wireless inflight entertainment.

“We have revolutionized the way travelers are entertained in the air during the flight. Our GSM and Wi-Fi capability enables the passengers to connect with the world outside the aircraft through Internet and phone calls,” says Mr. Ramon S. Ang, President of PAL. The bi-class A330-300 High Gross Jet will be used to operate flights to Bangkok, Hong Kong, Tokyo, Nagoya, Seoul and Abu Dhabi round the year.
