While the 2023 Cricket World Cup fever is rising in India, the United States has started preparations for hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2024. In one of the latest developments, the International Cricket Council has selected venues in New York, Texas, and Florida for the hosting of 2024 Men’s T20 World Cup matches in USA. The venues are Nassau County east of New York City, Grand Prairie in Texas’ Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex, and Broward County in the Miami Metropolitan Area, Florida.

The above three American states, out of which New York and Texas home the highest number of Indian immigrants, will be part of history as the US will host a cricket world cup for the first time, along with the West Indies. Undeniably, Indians worldwide are among the cricket fanatics. Reportedly, the ICC board is evaluating the likelihood of other places across the country, including George Mason University in Fairfax County, Virginia as venues for pre-event matches.

Several stadiums in Texas, New York, and Florida are either being newly constructed or repurposed on a large scale given the enormity of Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 wherein 20 teams including the one from India will be competing for the most coveted trophy. Among the stadiums likely to come up in the US, a 34000-seat modular stadium will be built in Eisenhower Park in Nassau County. This 930-acre public park on Long Island is larger than Central Park in the heart of New York City. Eisenhower Park houses a memorial for the victims of the September 11 attacks.

Modular stadium technology will be deployed for Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas and Broward County Cricket Stadium in Florida to get a grand makeover in seating capacity, amenities, VIP areas, etc. Contemporary upgrades to these existing stadia will be done by May as the schedule of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup will start in June 2024. The International Cricket Council has used this technology to upgrade the infrastructure and increase the capacity of venues for its previous sporting events. Other such global events as the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics have resorted to using modular stadium solutions.

India and Sri Lanka will co-host Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026. “We’re delighted to announce the three USA venues for the biggest ICC Men’s T20 World Cup ever staged. The USA is a strategically important market and these venues give us an excellent opportunity to make a statement in the world’s biggest sport history,” said ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice.

However, the craze about the #CricketWorldCup2023 is building among Indians in America. Many of them are looking for best flight deals to India for travel in October or November. Indian Eagle, a leading air-ticketing partner of Indian Diaspora in the US, is offering a $25 discount on flight tickets to India.
