“The Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has issued orders for acceptability of soft display of tickets on laptops, tablets or smart phones, at the entry point of the airport” civil aviation ministry sources said.

Currently for Air travel, it is mandatory for travelers to carry a printout of the e-ticket  along with valid identity cards.

Acting as a pioneer, about a year back, the Indian Railways has introduced the system of accepting soft display of tickets.

Printout of tickets is time consuming and not user-friendly.Travelers have either forgotten or misplaced printouts. The Airlines impose a charge of Rs 50 to give printouts at the airport.

The government is also considering doing away with the system of paper-tags for cabin baggage. The welcome change will be implemented within the next few days.
