United Airlines is likely to resume its most in-demand nonstop flights to India. The airline has scrapped direct operations to/from India due to the COVID-19 pandemic and airspace closure due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict. And now with things falling into place, United Airlines nonstop flights from Chicago to Delhi are likely to be operational from 2025.

This will offer passengers traveling from Chicago ORD to DEL a second nonstop connection apart from Air India’s direct flights on this route. With this, the airline is committed to offer passengers uninterrupted flights for an enhanced travel experience.

United Airlines Nonstop Flights from Chicago to Delhi

United Airlines has announced plans to introduce nonstop flights from ORD to DEL, starting from March 29, 2025. This is not the first time the airline has included the Chicago-Delhi route in its schedule. In December 2020, United Airlines operated its inaugural direct flight to Indira Gandhi International Airport from Chicago O’Hare International Airport. However, due to the subsequent rise of cases in India during the COVID-19 pandemic, United temporarily suspended ORD-DEL flights from May 31, 2021.

Due to the Russia-Ukraine conflict, which closed Russian airspace in 2022, United Airlines discontinued two direct routes from San Francisco (SFO) to Delhi and Newark (EWR) to Mumbai. Although these flights have not resumed, the airline continued operations between ORD-DEL and EWR-DEL routes. Passengers flying to/from these cities were able to book Indian Eagle tickets for an affordable trip. But the extended Russia-Ukraine conflict led United Airlines to announce the discontinuation of Chicago-Delhi flight operations. Now after a brief break, the airline is set to resume flights on this route in 2025.

Which aircraft will United Airlines use on the Chicago-Delhi route?

The iconic Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft from the United Airlines fleet will likely operate direct flights from Chicago ORD to Delhi. This will offer United Airlines passengers a comfortable and efficient travel experience.

The United Airlines Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft can accommodate around 257 passengers across three classes. United Polaris business class offers 48 seats with sleeping space and Premium Plus includes 21 seats with extra recline. The United economy cabin features 39 economy-plus seats and 149 standard seats.

The announcement of United Airlines nonstop flights from Chicago to New Delhi is welcoming news for the Indian diaspora in the USA. The airline aims to provide travelers with enhanced connectivity and convenience between Chicago and Delhi.
