Traveling with kids through busy airports can be stressful. Isn’t it? The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) understand that and so are working to make a change with the launch of Families on the Fly program.
What Is “Families on the Fly”?
TSA launches Families on the Fly to make airport security easier for families. It focuses on reducing stress and keeping families moving smoothly through checkpoints. TSA knows that parents often juggle bags, strollers, snacks, and restless kids. This program is designed to make that experience easier.

What are the benefits of TSA’s Families on the Fly initiative?
The program includes several helpful features. Dedicated family lanes are now available at select airports across the country. These lanes give families extra time and space to get through security without pressure.
As TSA launches Families on the Fly, it will soon also offer discounted PreCheck fees for families. This will make faster screening more affordable for parents and children. In addition, military families will have access to special TSA PreCheck lanes. These efforts aim to balance hospitality with strong security.
Which airports in USA offer TSA Families on the Fly program?
Right now, “Families on the Fly” is active at Orlando International Airport (MCO) and Charlotte-Douglas International (CLT). More airports will join soon, including John Wayne Orange County (SNA) and Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu.
Other participating airports will include Charleston (CHS), Jacksonville (JAX), Rhode Island T.F. Green (PVD), Luis Muñoz Marín (SJU), and Tampa (TPA). TSA plans to expand the program at these airports in the coming months.
The new program shows TSA’s commitment to improving the passenger experience. Families are encouraged to prepare in advance and check TSA resources before flying.
