The Indian aviation space is heating up and how! The grounds and the sky are ablaze with new and additional flights on popular routes. IndiGo owns the domestic aviation space in India in terms of the market share. Now, Akasa Air is entering the competitive industry and as per the updates so far; it plans to not take the competition lying down (or by being idle on the grounds!)

If you are curious about this newest airline or want to know about the Akasa Air flight schedule then continue reading this article.

Akasa Air – First Flight and Routes

Akasa Air’s first flight will take off from 7th August. The airline’s flight schedule will be updated on their website as the new routes are introduced.

It received the Air Operator Certificate by DGCA on 7th July and it opened bookings on 22nd July for the first flight. In the first phase, it will operate 28 flights per week for its Mumbai-Ahmedabad route. The same number of flights is planned for the Bengaluru-Kochi route starting from 13th August.  From 19th August, Bengaluru-Mumbai route will also be operational with, again, the same number of weekly flights. Its schedule will include a total of 82 weekly flights by the time it completes the first few operational weeks. Akasa Air’s flight routes, as of now, are going head-to-head with some of IndiGo’s popular routes.

Akasa Air’s routes in India are set to increase every month as per the current updates. The ticket prices will be competitive as it plans to take on the existing competition.

Akasa Air and Boeing 737 Max

Akasa Air is all set for its commercial operations with just two aircraft. Going forward; it plans to add two aircraft each month in order to expand its fleet to at least 18 by March next year. For the next five years, it plans to add some 12-14 aircraft each year. It has placed an order of 72 aircraft as of now. The delivery of the first Boeing 737 MAX at the Delhi Airport was on 21st June and for the second one on 26th July. The airline’s performance will be more under the scanner as and when the Akasa Air flight schedule will expand more in the coming years.

Akasa Air – The Hype and the Buzz

Akasa Air is the current aviation novelty.

It has a lot going for it that straight up leads to hype: Rakesh Jhunjhunwala, green initiatives, game-changer in the crew uniform designs et el. The hype can be good and bad. The hope is that it is not ‘all hype and no substance’ and backs up its claims of being the greenest (with Boeing 737 MAX having a CFM LEAP B engine; considered extremely fuel-efficient) and the most customer-friendly airline in India (as it claims on its website). Perhaps it will prove true to the all the buzz and the buildup so far.

For the latest news on Akasa Air flight schedule and other updates, visit Travel Diary often. The new entry in the Indian aviation space bods well for both domestic and international passengers. If you are taking flights to India and visiting multiple cities; you now have plenty of airline options for traveling around the country with ease. Book international flights now with Indian Eagle and take advantage of great deals available at the company’s website as well as via reduced domestic fare due to increasing competition in the Indian aviation industry.

What is the airline code for Akasa Air?
