Emirates airlines will now have a 1-2-1 configuration in the Business Class cabin of its Boeing 777 aircraft. This comes as a welcoming news for Emirates business class passengers as the previous 2-3-2 layout was criticized by travelers. The new Boeing 777 Emirates business class will offer an increased privacy, more personal space, and a fully lie-flat 78-inch bed.
The refurbished 777 Business Class has two cabins: a mini-cabin with three rows and a main cabin with seven rows. Seats now offer direct aisle access, with the count reduced to 38 or 40 from 42, focusing on comfort over capacity. Designed by Safran, the seats feature Emirates’ latest aesthetic touches like leather upholstery, wood panels, and champagne accents, resembling the style of its A380 aircraft fleet.
What are the amenities available on the new Boeing 777 Emirates business class?
Emirates has one of the best Business Class seats. Each seat on the refurbished 777 aircraft is equipped with a large 23-inch HD screen for entertainment, personal mini-bar, ample stowage, and a sizable table for dining or working. Charging outlets are available, though some newer tech features, like wireless charging and Bluetooth audio streaming, are still missing from the mix.
The conversion of seats into fully flat beds addresses longstanding customer demands for better rest opportunities during long-haul journeys. The cabin also includes a small bar area for mid-flight snacks and beverages.
Which routes have the new Emirates Boeing 777 business class?
Emirates flights to New York, Boston, London Stansted, and Athens will be operated by the retrofitted Boeing 777-300Rs. As of August 2025, about 25 out of 120 Boeing 777-300ERs in Emirates fleet have been refitted with the new Business Class. The airline is aggressively retrofitting its fleet, promising a new or upgraded Boeing 777 Business Class every two weeks. It aims to complete 81 aircraft before newer models replace the remaining older planes.

The 1-2-1 configuration brings Emirates in line with industry standards set by competitors such as Qatar Airways. According to aviation experts, it is seen more as a necessary catch-up than an innovation. The focus on direct aisle access and lie-flat beds addresses key customer pain points, transforming Emirates’ Boeing 777 into a desirable option for business travelers seeking comfort, privacy, and high-quality service.
