Emirates has confirmed its plans to acquire between 100 and 150 aircraft, as it looks to modernize its fleet and replace its existing Airbus A380 planes. The Dubai-based airline Emirates order aircraft to stay ahead of the curve in the rapidly recovering aviation industry.

In addition to retrofitting its current fleet, Emirates is also considering the future requirements of the industry. The airline is exploring the possibility of purchasing more Airbus A350 and Boeing 777X twinjets, as well as the inclusion of 787 Dreamliners.

Upgrading the Fleet

Emirates already has an extensive aircraft order portfolio, with pending deliveries of fifty A350-900s, five 777-200Fs, sixteen 777-8s, ninety nine 777-9s, and thirty 787-9s. Prior to this announcement, the airline was expecting a total of 200 aircraft.

The Boeing 777X family consists of two large twin-engined aircraft, the 777-9 with a seating capacity of 400, and the smaller 777-8. However, the entry into service of these planes has faced delays due to certification and engine development issues.

Accumulating Impressive Numbers

During a speech in Istanbul, Emirates’ CEO, Clark, expressed a slightly higher level of confidence in Boeing’s ability to deliver the new aircraft. He anticipated receiving the first 777X in the last quarter of 2025.

Emirates Group recently announced a record profit of $3 billion (10.9 billion dirhams) for the 2022-23 period, signaling a full recovery from the impact of the pandemic. However, the demand for their services continues to outpace their capacity. Clark stated that the results for the first two months of this year have already surpassed last year’s performance.
