Asian Games 2026: India Win Silver in Women’s Trap Team Event

India added another medal to its Asian Games 2026 campaign after the women’s trap shooting team won silver in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on Tuesday. The Indian team of Neeru Dhanda, Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer finished second in the women’s trap team event with a combined score of 328 points. 

Neeru Dhanda Shines as India Claim Silver in Women’s Trap

Neeru Dhanda led India’s scoring with 118 out of 125, the best individual score among the three Indian shooters. Aashima Ahlawat contributed 106 points, while Manisha Keer added 104. Their combined score of 328 was enough to keep India three points ahead of bronze medallists Kuwait.

Women’s Trap Team Medal Results

The silver medal further strengthened India’s impressive shooting campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games. The result took India’s shooting medal tally to 13.

Neeru Dhanda Reaches Women’s Trap Individual Final

Neeru’s day did not end with the team silver. The Indian shooter finished joint-top in the women’s individual trap qualification after scoring 118. She shared the leading qualification score with Qatar’s Ray Bassil and booked a place in the eight-shooter individual final.

Neeru’s score of 118 was also reported as a Games qualification record, making her individual performance one of the main highlights of India’s shooting campaign on the day. Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer did not advance to the individual final, but their scores proved important in securing India’s team silver. The final gives Neeru another chance to win an individual medal after her team silver.

India’s Men’s Trap Team Finish Sixth

India also competed in the men’s trap team event. The Indian combination of Shapath Bharadwaj, Kynan Chenai and Ahvar Rizvi finished sixth in the team competition. However, Shapath kept India’s medal hopes alive in the individual event. He advanced to the men’s trap final after coming through a three-way shoot-off for the remaining qualification places. His qualification means India has representation in both the men’s and women’s individual trap finals.

India in Other Events at Asian Games 2026

Indian athletes were also in action across several other sports on September 29. In archery, Dhiraj Bommadevara and Neeraj Chauhan competed in the men’s recurve individual event as India continued its campaign in the knockout rounds. India was also represented in canoe slalom, where Hitesh Kewat, Pradhyumna Singh Rathod, Pallavi Jagtap and Rina Sen were among the athletes competing in the kayak and canoe events.

In track cycling, Indian riders competed in the men’s and women’s team sprint events as well as the women’s team pursuit. The women’s squash team also faced Iran in the team competition, while Vipin Kumar represented India in the men’s 66kg kurash event. Surfer Kishore Kumar Anbarasu competed in the men’s shortboard quarterfinal earlier in the day.
