Christmas came early for aviation enthusiasts as Air India welcomed its first Airbus A350 in Delhi on Saturday, 23rd December. This delivery was even special as the wide-body aircraft was adorned with Air India’s new livery. India’s first Airbus A350 900 asserts the carrier’s position as a leading airline in the country. 

A remarkable addition to the Air India fleet, the cutting-edge aircraft landed at the Indira Gandhi International Airport. The jet will operate under a unique call sign, AI350. The delivery of this particular A350-900, registered as VT-JRA, signifies the beginning of a new chapter for the Tata Group-owned airline.

The Sleek Interiors of Air India’s Airbus A350 900

The Airbus A350-900 Air India flights feature a lavish three-class cabin setup. This comprises 28 private business class suites with lie flat beds, 24 premium economy seats providing additional legroom, and 264 economy class seats. Every seat in Air India’s A350 aircraft has a high-definition screen, and the airline’s cutting-edge Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system is also available. This luxurious setup ensures a comfortable and enjoyable travel experience for passengers across all classes.

With an aim to modernize the Air India fleet, the airline plans to induct approximately 40 Airbus A350 aircraft. The recent addition of the cutting-edge aircraft aligns with Air India’s goal of acquiring a total of 20 A350-900s.

When will India’s first Airbus A350 900 start operations? 

Air India will likely start commercial operations with the Airbus A350-900 from January 2024. The Air India cabin crew are also expected to don their new uniforms designed by Manish Malhotra on this flight. 

The addition of Airbus A350 900 in the Air India fleet signifies the airline’s commitment to elevating India’s aviation standards on the global stage.
