Air India became the first airline in India to welcome the iconic Airbus A350 900 in its fleet last year. It also showcased the aircraft at the WIngs India 2024 in Hyderabad and started domestic operations last month. With plans to start international flights by mid-2024, the airline welcomed its second Airbus A350 900 in Delhi on Saturday, 3rd February.
The VT-JRB marks a significant expansion in the airline’s long-haul capabilities. This delivery follows the first A350-900, VT-JRA, as part of Air India’s plan to integrate a total of 20 A350-900s into its fleet.
Cabin Configuration for Airbus A350-900
Air India’s A350-900 boasts a meticulously designed three-class cabin setup. It features a total of 316 seats crafted by Collins Aerospace. Noteworthy components include 28 business class suites that boast full-flat beds. The jet also offers 24 premium economy seats with extra legroom and unique amenities. It also features a spacious economy class with 264 seats. These will definitely make Air India flights comfortable and relaxing. All seats are equipped with the cutting-edge Panasonic eX3 in-flight entertainment system, complete with HD screens.
Air India Receives its 38th Airbus A320neo in Delhi
Air India not only received the delivery of its second Airbus A350 900 but the airline also welcomed its 38th A320neo (VT-RTV) in Delhi on the same day. The addition of these two new aircraft into the Air India fleet showcases its commitment to fleet expansion and modernization.
Air India and Vistara Merger Update
Amidst the anticipation of regulatory approval by 2025, Air India and Vistara have confirmed that their boards will remain distinct for an additional year. As the merger moves through regulatory procedures, operational integration is expected to happen slowly throughout 2024.
With 18 more A350-900s to be integrated, Air India’s ambitious plan involves a total of 20 A350-900s. The airline had initially sought a mix of A350-1000s and A350-900s but later opted for a uniform order of 20 A350-900s and 20 A350-1000s. This emphasizes flexibility and modernization in its long-haul fleet.
