Air India plans to expand its popular Delhi (DEL) to Washington DC (IAD) route. Starting October 29, 2024, travelers can expect an additional flight per week, increasing the frequency from four to five weekly flights. These changes aim to give travelers more flexibility and an improved travel experience on this popular DEL to IAD long-haul flight.
Air India Flight Upgrade for Added Comfort
From November 15, 2024, Air India will upgrade its aircraft on this route, replacing the Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner with the larger Boeing 777-200LR. While the Boeing 787 currently provides 256 seats, including 18 Business Class seats and 238 in Economy, the Boeing 777-200LR will offer a new three-class seating experience. It will feature eight First Class seats in a 1-2-1 layout, 35 Business Class seats in a 2-3-2 arrangement, and 195 Economy seats in a 3-3-3 configuration, promising an enhanced travel experience with more seating options.
India to Washington Flights
According to recent data, Washington DC remains a key destination for Indian travelers. Over the past year, the Delhi to Washington route witnessed 91,000 passengers, and high demand from other Indian cities like Hyderabad, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
Air India is also eyeing the Washington-Ho Chi Minh City (IAD-SGN) market, providing quick connections via Delhi. In addition, connecting flights from Washington to destinations like Bangkok and Kathmandu have seen high demand.
