Etihad Airways is preparing for a bustling summer as the airline gears up to serve over four million passengers in the upcoming three months. This includes both local passengers from Abu Dhabi and travelers connecting through Etihad’s extensive global network.

A Summer Soaring for Etihad

The carrier based in Abu Dhabi is projected to serve over four million passengers from Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) between June 20th and September 30th. The peak period will commence on June 22nd, coinciding with Eid al-Adha and UAE school holidays. Emirates, another popular UAE-based airline, is also expecting a similar surge in Dubai. Also, the Dubai International Airport (DXB) predicts breaking records next week with over 300,000 passengers expected on a single day (July 2nd).

Etihad hub operations envisions tripling its passenger numbers by 2030, experiencing a growth of 10% over the past year. To cope with the increased capacity, the airline has reintroduced a number of Airbus A320 and Airbus A380 aircraft.

Enhanced Online and Self-Service Check-In

During peak travel periods, it is advisable to complete as much of the check-in process as possible prior to arriving at the airport. Etihad offers online check-in and self-service bag drop options to facilitate this for passengers. Through the carrier’s ‘Home Check-In’ feature, passengers can check in, up to five hours before departure. For the duration of peak travel, Etihad will provide the following check-in options:

Economy passengers: Check-in opens four hours before scheduled departures and closes one hour before departure.

Premium passengers: Check-in closes 45 minutes before departure.

Travelers flying to the US: Check-in closes two hours before departure. Additionally, passengers can utilize the US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) facility at Abu Dhabi International Airport for pre-clearance of US immigration before entering the country.

Hajj travelers: Check in at one of Etihad’s dedicated pilgrim counters, which will provide complimentary refreshments and dates.

To ensure a smooth journey during the busy summer season, Etihad airways  has shared some tips for travelers. This also includes arriving at the airport earlier than usual and verifying departure terminals or flight times.
