Air India is leaving no stone unturned to become the leading airline operating flights between India and USA. Connecting five US destinations, Air India currently operates 51 weekly nonstop flights between the two countries. With an aim to grab the largest piece of pie, Air India now reportedly plans to add new destinations in the USA. 

At present, Air India connects India to five USA destinations; San Francisco, Chicago, New York-JFK, Newark, and Washington. SFO was the last Air India destination on the USA-India route, which was added back in 2015. 

New Air India Destinations in the USA

Over the past few months, there were speculations that Air India can add Dallas, Los Angeles and Seattle in its winter schedule. But now there are reports that Air India may go ahead by starting flights to Los Angeles and Dallas. The two cities may likely connect the capital city of Delhi. According to many Indian Eagle travel passengers, the large Indian diaspora in these cities, and the lack of direct flights on these routes may have driven this decision. The new services are expected to commence before the end of 2024. The Boeing 777 aircraft from the Air India fleet will most likely be utilized for the new flights.

Air India also plans to introduce nonstop flights to Bangalore from London Gatwick next month. Air India passengers traveling from the USA to India or vice versa may benefit from this if they choose to fly via London. The airline will likely use Boeing 787 Dreamliners featuring 18 business class and 238 economy seats on this route.

Air India Fleet Expansion

Interestingly, Air India aims to deploy its A350 aircraft for flights to continental North America eventually. From September 1, the passenger-favorite Airbus A350-900 will replace the iconic Boeing 777-300ER and Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner on the Delhi-London Heathrow route. Currently, the Airbus A350 operates on the Delhi-Dubai and Mumbai-Dubai routes. Notably, the airline’s fleet now includes six A350s.

With new US destinations Dallas and Los Angeles, Air India aims to expand its operations. When the flights become operational, these will serve the Indian diaspora who have patiently been waiting for connectivity between India and these destinations in the USA.
