The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI); a collective of some 2500 travel companies, has sent a written request to the MEA for rapid action eliminating all Air Suvidha requirements. As per their complaint; the delays in processing Air Suvidha details are disrupting travel plans of people across the world. It is also causing delays in visa processing by US and Schengen countries. TAAI is essentially petitioning the government to eliminate the requirement to pre-fill Air Suvidha before departing from source destination and eventually scrap the mandate. As per an official TAAI statement, Air Suvidha is impeding recovery of the inbound travel industry.

Along with this request, the TAAI has also requested visa extensions for some countries as well as e-visa reinstatement worldwide.

Air Suvidha was launched as a helpful tool to control COVID situation. It seems the mandate has now become more of a hindrance for the travel sector and the passengers. TAAI is seeking government’s assistance on this to aid recovery of the inbound travel sector. But it may also be helpful to ease the pain of passengers travelling to and from India.

If you are taking flights to India, scrapping of Air Suvidha may be good news for you. In any case; you can ease your travel woes by booking cheap flight tickets with Indian Eagle.
