Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) has officially opened its new C Concourse Expansion, a four-story addition designed to improve the passenger experience with more dining options, retail shops, lounge areas, public art, and sustainable features.
The SEA Airport C Concourse, unveiled on June 10, adds more than 145,000 square feet of space between the C and D Concourses. Built within the airport’s existing footprint, the project is part of the airport’s ongoing Upgrade SEA modernization program.
Four Floors of New Passenger Amenities
The SEA Airport C Concourse expansion transforms what was once nonpublic office and storage space into a traveler-focused destination. New features include:
- Ten new dining and retail locations
- Six SEA Sparks Incubator Program retail kiosks
- The Tree at C gathering space
- Grand Stairs seating area
- Interfaith Prayer and Meditation Room
- Sensory Room
- Nursing Room
- Live performance area
- The Lookout at C airfield observation deck
A dramatic open atrium connects all four levels, while a 30-foot-high ceiling and stepped-back floor design create a spacious atmosphere with clear sightlines throughout the building.
Pacific Northwest Design Takes Center Stage
The architectural design reflects the forests and landscapes of the Pacific Northwest. Geometric patterns inspired by Western Hemlock wood flow through the structure and connect with the Tree at C centerpiece. Large folded facade windows allow natural daylight to fill the interior while creating views across the airport.
The building was designed by Miller Hull and Woods Bagot, who described the Marketplace at C as a space inspired by the region’s famous markets and evergreen forests. Multiple viewing areas throughout the expansion allow passengers to watch aircraft movements, enjoy airfield views, and experience the region’s distinctive skies.
Sustainability Features
The SEA Airport C Concourse Expansion is targeting LEED Platinum certification, which would make it one of the most environmentally advanced facilities at SEA Airport. The project is the first airport development to fully implement the Port of Seattle’s Sustainable Evaluation Framework. Key sustainability features include:
- Electrochromic smart windows that automatically adjust to sunlight throughout the day
- SEA’s first rooftop solar panel installation
- Solar panels expected to generate 12% to 14% of the facility’s electricity
- Fully electric building systems
- Fossil fuel-free heating
- Electric cooking equipment
- Dishwashing facilities to reduce waste
- Food donation storage areas
- Low-flow water fixtures to conserve water
New Dining, Shopping, and Seating

Travelers can now enjoy a mix of local favorites and national brands at the new expansion. The dining and retail lineup includes:
- Bell St. Landing by Hudson

- Buffalo Wild Wings Go
- Chili’s
- Great State Burger
- Nanny’s BBQ

The expansion also introduces six SEA Sparks Incubator Program kiosks that give small and emerging businesses an opportunity to operate inside the airport. The first group of kiosk businesses includes:
- Clara Jane

- Royal Phoenix Photography
- Seattle Glass Blowing Studio
- Transcend
- Tyra the Stitcher
Passengers will also find a variety of seating options throughout the facility, many equipped with power outlets and offering airfield views.
