Passengers will get Compensation for Delays, Says IRCTC before the launch of Tejas Express

Passengers will get Compensation for Delay

First time in Indian Railways, the passengers will receive compensation for delays. Operated by IRCTC (Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation), passengers traveling in New Delhi-Lucknow Tejas Express will get compensation for delays.

IRCTC said on Tuesday, that they will compensate INR 100 for an hour’s delay and INR 250 for a delay of more than 2 hours to the passengers. Now, this is something happening for the first time in India.

Passengers on board this train will get a wide range of benefits like free travel insurance that will cover household theft and robbery while traveling. Other facilities include doorstep baggage collection, no tatkal quota and local food. IRCTC made the announcement prior to the official run of its first train on 5 October, 2019.

To claim for the insurance, the passenger needs to fill up a form provided by the insurance company through a link online or call on the toll-free number available online. Once the necessary documents are submitted, the claim will be settled by the insurance companies in the next 2 to 3 days. IRCTC added saying the forms will be soon available online.

The first IRCTC train Tejas Express will run on the Delhi-Lucknow route from 5 October, 2019. The train will run six days a week and the fare for Lucknow to New Delhi is INR 1125 for AC chair car and INR 2310 for Executive Chair Car. The fare for New Delhi to Lucknow is fixed for INR 1280 for AC Chair Car and INR 2450 for Executive Chair Car.
