India has become one of the largest markets for nearly all top airlines. As the number of passengers traveling to and from India has increased significantly over the decades, carriers have been leaving no stone unturned to woo them. Keeping the budget and comfort in mind, airlines such as Emirates have started offering premium economy seats. These are gaining popularity among travelers for being better than economy and cheaper than business class. And to fulfill this increase in demand, Emirates Airbus A380 will now feature the premium class cabin.

Emirates initially launched its premium economy offering in August 2022, making it available on select routes to major cities. Premium Economy seats on cheap flights with Emirates were added for flights to and from Los Angeles, New York, Houston, San Francisco, London, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch, Melbourne, Singapore.

Emirates Seeks More Seats in India

To meet the increase in demand, Emirates is seeking to get more seats in India. It has around 65,000 weekly seats on the UAE-India route. Also known as one of the world’s safest airlines, Emirates now want to further enhance its business in the Indian market. Emirates’ decision to introduce premium economy seating on its three- to four-hour routes comes as Air India aims to capitalize on its nonstop flights to USA and other countries while reclaiming market share from Gulf airlines that use Middle Eastern hubs for transit.

Air India made a significant move earlier in the year when the carrier ordered 470 aircraft from Airbus and Boeing Co. Additionally, Air India revamped their brand and began offering premium economy seating on Boeing 777-200LR jets in May for select US-bound flights.
