Delta Air Lines, in collaboration with Los Angeles World Airports, has attained a significant feat by concluding the last part of construction for the Delta Sky Way at LAX considerably ahead of the initial schedule. Initially slated for completion in eighteen months, this ambitious project, commenced in 2018, has been completed at a whopping cost of more than $2.3 billion. This substantial effort is set to revolutionize the passenger experience at one of Delta’s crucial hubs.

Delta Sky Way and Labor Day Weekend

In a way, this is great news for the passengers traveling through Los Angeles International Airport. As the Labor Day weekend approaches, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) foresees screening over 14 million passengers between September 1 and 6. It is assumed that September 1 will likely be the peak day, with 2.7 million travelers expected to pass through security. This summer marks the busiest on record, surpassing 2019 travel volumes. And a large part of passengers are expected to travel through Los Angeles. And Delta Sky Way at Lax can make passenger experience seamless during this busy travel period.

Delta’s Terminal 3

A notable achievement is that the project concluded a full 18 months ahead of its original timetable, a rare feat in large-scale infrastructure ventures. Delta’s Terminal 3, spanning 1.2 million square feet with 27 gates, was unveiled in April. This modern terminal houses a centralized check-in lobby, an expanded security checkpoint, an improved baggage claim area, and a cutting-edge Delta Sky Club — among the largest within Delta’s network. Furthermore, the addition of nine extra gates, expansive seating areas, and concessions in October 2022 further elevated the passenger experience.
