International flight operations from Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport have received a boost with the resumption of the direct Chandigarh-Dubai flight after a four-month suspension.
The daily service restarted this week, restoring one of the airport’s most important international routes. The flight departs Dubai International Airport at 10:10 a.m. and arrives in Chandigarh at 3:45 p.m. The total travel time is four hours and five minutes, including the time difference between the two destinations.
The return flight leaves Chandigarh at 5:10 p.m. IST and lands in Dubai at 7:40 p.m. local time.
Airfares Rise Following Route Resumption
Passengers flying on the Chandigarh-Dubai flight are now paying significantly higher fares than before the disruption. Prior to the Iran-Israel conflict, a one-way economy ticket from Chandigarh to Dubai cost around Rs 13,500. The fare has now increased to approximately Rs 19,000. Travelers flying from Dubai to Chandigarh are facing even steeper prices. A one-way economy class ticket currently costs around Rs 24,000, almost double the previous fare.
Abu Dhabi Flights Set to Return Later This Month
In another positive development for international travelers, airlines have started accepting bookings for direct Chandigarh-Abu Dhabi flights. The service is scheduled to resume on June 26. The flight will depart Chandigarh at 5:20 p.m. and arrive in Abu Dhabi at 7:40 p.m. The four-hour journey is currently priced at around Rs 19,000. Despite the return of these services, officials remain cautious about future operations.
Iran-Israel Conflict Disrupted International Services
International flights from Chandigarh Airport had been suspended since March 1 because of temporary UAE airspace restrictions linked to the Iran-Israel conflict. During this period, flights to several Middle East destinations faced disruptions. Airlines had to reroute flights, while rising aviation fuel costs led to higher airfares on many international routes. The situation affected airline schedules and passenger travel plans, while also increasing operating costs and ticket prices.
More Domestic Flights Added From Chandigarh
Alongside the return of international services, Chandigarh Airport has expanded its domestic network. Two additional flights have been added to the summer schedule from June 1. The new services connect Chandigarh with Pune and Bengaluru, improving domestic air connectivity for passengers.
Weather Causes Flight Delays and Cancellation
Meanwhile, bad weather affected flight operations at Chandigarh Airport during the evening. The Jaipur-Chandigarh flight (6E7413) was canceled. The flight had been scheduled to depart Jaipur at 9:25 p.m. and arrive in Chandigarh at 10:50 p.m. Several other flights also experienced delays. Departures to Mumbai, Ahmedabad, and Delhi were delayed, while arrivals from Lucknow, Goa, and Delhi reached Chandigarh later than scheduled.
