Bonalu 2026 will bring Hyderabad and Secunderabad alive with devotion, music, processions, and colorful temple celebrations. This traditional Telangana celebration honors Goddess Mahankali and takes place during Ashadam, also called Ashadha Masam. For travelers from the USA who plan to visit Hyderabad in July or August 2026, this Telangana festival offers a powerful way to experience Telangana’s culture, faith, food traditions, and community spirit. Here is everything you need to know about Bonalu 2026 dates, major temples, rituals, and travel tips.

What is Bonalu?

Bonalu is one of the most important folk traditions in Telangana. Devotees offer food to Goddess Mahankali as a gesture of gratitude and prayer. “Bona” or “Bonam” refers to the food offering, which usually includes cooked rice, jaggery, curd, turmeric, and neem leaves. Devotees prepare decorated pots and carry them on their heads to temples as part of the offering. People celebrate Bonalu mainly in Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and other parts of Telangana. Ashadam Bonalu 2026 falls in the sacred Ashadam month. It also takes place during the rainy season, when devotees pray for health, protection, and family wellbeing.

Bonalu Start and End Date 2026

Bonalu 2026 will begin on Sunday, July 19, 2026, and continue until Sunday, August 9, 2026.

July 19: Golconda Fort Bonalu at Sri Jagadamba Mahankali Temple.

July 26: Balkampet Yellamma Kalyanam and Bonalu-related celebrations.

August 2: Lashkar Bonalu at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, Secunderabad.

August 9: Old City Bonalu celebrations take place at Lal Darwaza Mahankali Temple, Malkajgiri local temples, and other Hyderabad neighborhoods.

Major Rituals of Bonalu 2026

Bonam Offering:

Devotees consider Bonam the central offering of Bonalu. Women create an elaborately decorated pot containing cooked rice, jaggery, curd, turmeric, and neem leaves. They place a lamp on top of the pot and carry it to the temple. This act reflects devotion, appreciation, and prayers for family happiness.

Folk Music and Processions:

Drums, devotional songs, folk dancers, decorated pots, and colorful traditional attire are all part of Bonalu processions. For travelers from the USA, these processions offer a unique cultural experience that feels very different from regular tourist sightseeing.

Rangam:

The Rangam ritual is one of the most distinctive festival traditions. Devotees listen to predictions for the coming year from a woman who acts as an oracle. In 2026, Rangam will take place on August 3 at Ujjaini Mahankali Temple in Secunderabad.

Pothuraju Procession:

Pothuraju is considered the divine protector of Goddess Mahankali. A male devotee represents Pothuraju during the procession. He wears bright clothes, applies turmeric and vermilion, and energizes the crowd with powerful dance movements.

Best Places to Experience Bonalu 2026

  • Sri Jagadamba Mahankali Temple, Golconda Fort
  • Ujjaini Mahankali Temple, Secunderabad
  • Sri Mahankali Temple, Lal Darwaza
  • Balkampet Yellamma Temple
  • Local Temples in Malkajgiri

Travel Tips for USA Visitors Attending Bonalu 2026

Here are a few helpful travel tips:

  • Arrive in Hyderabad at least two or three days before the main Bonalu date.
  • Stay near Old City, Secunderabad, Banjara Hills, Begumpet, or Hitech City based on your travel plan.
  • Start early on Bonalu days because traffic restrictions may apply near major temples.
  • Wear modest and comfortable clothes.
  • Carry water, a light umbrella, and comfortable footwear.
  • Avoid carrying large bags near crowded areas.
  • Ask before taking photos inside temples.
  • Use Hyderabad Metro where possible, especially for Secunderabad-side travel.
  • Keep extra travel time for airport transfers during Bonalu weekends.

Why USA Travelers Should Experience the Celebration

USA visitors may travel to Hyderabad for several reasons, including visiting family, attending weddings, trying local cuisine, medical visits, and business. Bonalu gives them another meaningful reason to plan a visit to Hyderabad. Bonalu reflects the older cultural layers of Hyderabad through temple traditions, women-led devotion, music, and neighborhood celebrations. The festival also helps Indian Americans reconnect with their Telangana roots. Non-Indian visitors get a unique opportunity to witness the celebration in its original environment.

For travelers from the USA, this Ashadam festival offers a unique reason to visit Hyderabad during the monsoon season. It brings together devotion, culture, music, family traditions, and local history in one unforgettable celebration. Plan your Bonalu trip early and save more on airfare with Indian Eagle. Use coupon code IETDUS250 and book by July 11, 2026, to get exclusive savings on eligible USA to India flight itineraries. Give yourself enough time to enjoy the festival comfortably.

Hidden deep in the central Indian Ocean lies one of the most remote and mysterious island groups on Earth. The Chagos Islands, also known as the Chagos Archipelago, are one of the most isolated places on Earth. With limited access and few visitors each year, these islands remain a hidden paradise, celebrated for their untouched ecosystems, turquoise waters, and remarkable biodiversity.

Most people have never heard of the islands. Yet their remote location, unique history, and ecological importance have made them a subject of global interest for decades. Here is a detailed look at the fascinating facts that make this remote island group one of the world’s most inaccessible places.

A Remote Island Chain in the Heart of the Indian Ocean

Located in the central Indian Ocean, roughly 500 kilometers south of the Maldives and 1,880 kilometers east of the Seychelles, this remote group of islands spans seven atolls and more than 60 tropical islets scattered across a vast expanse of ocean. Though far from major landmasses, they sit along key maritime routes linking Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. The land area is only about 56 square kilometers, but the surrounding lagoons and reefs stretch across more than 15,000 square kilometers. At its center lies Diego Garcia, the largest island, which makes up more than half of the territory’s land area and forms a striking horseshoe around a natural lagoon.

Home to the World’s Largest Coral Atoll Structure

One of the most fascinating attractions of this remote island chain is the Great Chagos Bank. It is recognized as the world’s largest coral atoll structure and supports a significant proportion of the Indian Ocean’s remaining healthy coral reef habitat. Scientists consider it one of the most important marine ecosystems on Earth. Because of the islands’ isolation, many reefs have remained healthier than those in more populated regions.

No Tourist Resorts, Airports, or Cruise Ships

Unlike tropical destinations such as the Maldives or Seychelles, the territory remains closed to regular tourism. There are no hotels, beach resorts, commercial airports, or tourist facilities. Access is heavily restricted, so the islands remain among the least-visited places in the world.  Most travelers cannot legally visit the islands.

Diego Garcia Hosts a Major Military Base

The main reason for the islands’ restricted access is Diego Garcia. The island hosts a joint United Kingdom–United States military facility that has played an important role in military operations across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa for decades. Because of its strategic location in the middle of the Indian Ocean, Diego Garcia is considered one of the most valuable military outposts in the world.

Original Islanders Were Forced to Leave

One of the most controversial chapters in the islands’ history involves the Chagossians, also known as the Ilois. Between 1967 and 1973, the indigenous population was removed from the islands to make way for military development on Diego Garcia. Families were relocated mainly to Mauritius and the Seychelles. Many descendants of those displaced communities continue to campaign for the right to return to their ancestral homeland.

One of the World’s Largest Marine Protected Areas

Marine life in the Chagos Islands, featuring vibrant coral reefs, sea turtles, tropical fish, and clear ocean waters within one of the world's largest marine protected areas.
Source: ChatGPT

The islands are a true biodiversity hotspot, with remote waters that have preserved marine life lost in many other parts of the Indian Ocean. Coral reefs, reef fish, sea turtles, sharks, rays, migratory tuna, and seabird colonies thrive here in abundance. In 2010, the surrounding ocean was declared a massive marine protected area of roughly 640,000 square kilometers, one of the largest in the world.

Climate Is Tropical Year-Round

This remote island group experiences a tropical oceanic climate. Temperatures remain warm throughout the year, while trade winds help moderate humidity. The rainy season generally occurs between December and February, while drier conditions typically prevail from June through September. The islands receive abundant sunshine and support lush tropical vegetation.

Very Few People Live There Today

Unlike most island communities, these islands have virtually no permanent civilian population. The only long-term residents are military personnel, contractors, and support staff stationed primarily on Diego Garcia. This makes it one of the least populated inhabited territories in the world.

Return of Chagossians Remains Uncertain

For decades, former residents and their descendants have fought legal battles seeking the right to return. In 2026, a small group of Chagossians returned to Île du Coin in the Peros Banhos Atoll in an attempt to reestablish a permanent settlement, reigniting global attention on the issue. Whether large-scale resettlement will ever happen remains uncertain.

The Chagos Islands are among the world’s most remote and least-visited places. With pristine ecosystems, rich marine life, and a unique history, they remain one of the Indian Ocean’s most fascinating archipelagos.

Kempegowda International Airport has quietly begun testing PreSecure, a new slot-booking system that lets passengers reserve a dedicated time for security screening before reaching the airport. The pilot is currently running at Terminal 1 and is available at no cost during the trial period.

How the PreSecure Service Works

The concept is simple. Instead of joining the standard security queue, eligible passengers can book a preferred screening slot through the BLR Pulse app. Upon arrival, travelers are directed to a dedicated security lane available exclusively to PreSecure users. Rather than wondering how long a queue might take, passengers know in advance when they can proceed through security.

To use the service, travelers need to open the BLR Pulse app, select the option to reserve a Terminal 1 security slot, scan their boarding pass, and choose an available time window. Slots can currently be booked up to 75 minutes before departure. The pilot facility is operating near check-in counter 86.

Free During Trial, Paid Model Under Consideration

While the service is free for now, that may not remain the case for long. Sources familiar with the project said BIAL is considering a paid model once the testing phase is completed. If passenger feedback is positive, the service could eventually be expanded to Terminal 2 as well. Passengers departing from Terminal 1 on airlines such as IndiGo, Akasa Air, SpiceJet, or Alliance Air can use the service without needing airline-specific priority access.

Terminal 1 Expansion Supports the Pilot

With international services now operating from Terminal 2, Bengaluru Airport has repurposed parts of Terminal 1 to handle more domestic passengers. The expansion includes additional check-in infrastructure and increased security screening capacity. The pilot service is currently being tested through a dedicated lane operated in coordination with the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF).

Global Trial Services

Berlin Brandenburg Airport offers advance security slot bookings through its BER Runway program, while several airports in the United States have introduced similar virtual queue systems. U.S. travelers also use expedited screening programs such as TSA PreCheck and CLEAR for faster checkpoint access. Bengaluru Airport’s PreSecure pilot aligns with the growing trend of using dedicated lanes and pre-booked screening slots to streamline passenger journeys.

Tired of long airport lines? Digi Yatra makes travel faster and smoother for millions of passengers across India. The platform has already helped over 10 crore passengers move through 38 airports smoothly. You register once, use your digital identity, and walk through airport gates using facial recognition.

Benefits for Travelers

Airport entry used to take around 15 seconds per passenger. Now, it takes just 5 seconds. That may not sound like much. But at busy airports, it saves time. Staff manage crowds better. Passengers feel less rushed. It’s especially helpful if you’re catching domestic or international flights, where every minute counts.

27 More Airports Will Get Digi Yatra

The service is provided at Delhi (DEL), Mumbai (BOM), Bengaluru (BLR), Hyderabad (HYD), Kolkata (CCU), Chennai (MAA), Ahmedabad (AMD), Pune (PNQ), Lucknow (LKO), Goa (GOI/GOX), Guwahati, Jaipur, Kochi, Nagpur, Navi Mumbai, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangaluru, Surat, Vijayapura, Varanasi, Visakhapatnam, and Bhubaneswar.

By next year, 27 more airports will join. Greenfield airports like Navi Mumbai, Jewar, and Bhogapuram will also be fully enabled. Soon, travelers across India will enjoy faster, contactless entry.

Supporting India’s Growing Air Passenger Traffic

India’s air travel is booming. Daily domestic passengers have crossed 5 lakh several times recently. By 2030, airport traffic may reach 50 crore. By 2040, it could hit nearly 100 crore. Airports need smarter ways to manage this growth. More counters alone won’t solve congestion. Systems like this help passengers move quickly and keep terminals less crowded.

More Regional Languages Adding

Digi Yatra currently supports 11 languages. By 2027, it will add 11 more. Not everyone is comfortable with English or Hindi. Adding regional languages makes the app easier for first-time flyers, older travelers, and passengers from smaller towns. Simple language keeps travel less confusing.

Mandatory for International Travelers

If flying internationally from Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, or Hyderabad you must now use this service. Upload an Aadhaar-verified selfie and your boarding pass to the app before your flight. At the airport, this system uses facial recognition at dedicated e-gates and lets you pass through entry, security, and boarding without repeated checks.

Airlines like IndiGo, Air India, Vistara, Emirates, and Lufthansa support it. This will likely expand to 27 more airports next year.

Paperless Travel Made Easy

This system also reduces paper usage at airports. You don’t need to carry boarding passes at every checkpoint. This means less to show and fewer repeated checks. The app Foundation keeps everything secure and fast. Biometric authentication ensures airport travel is smooth and safe.

What Travelers Should Know

It doesn’t replace airport rules. You still need valid tickets, ID, and other documents. Check if your airport supports this app before flying. It’s especially helpful during peak hours, holidays, or early morning departures. A little planning can save a lot of time and make your airport experience far less stressful.

Digi Yatra reaching 10 crore journeys is a big milestone. With 27 more airports and additional languages coming by 2027, it’s set to transform airport travel in India.

For travelers, it means faster, smoother, and smarter trips. Book your next international flight with Indian Eagle and enjoy smoother airport entry.

High Skill Immigration

The United States has long attracted international students, professionals, and skilled travelers seeking study, work, or business opportunities. From universities to tech firms, foreign talent has contributed to research, innovation, and the economy. However, recent policy changes in America have affected visas, immigration, and travel permissions. High-skill immigration has long been a key driver of innovation, economic growth, and job creation in the United States. Know how recent U.S. policies may impact students, temporary workers, and permanent residents, helping you plan your journey.

International Students and Travel Planning

Students planning to study in the U.S. usually get the F-1 visa for admission to colleges and universities. The recent policies related to visas are as follows:

  • Reports of delays and administrative processing issues in student visa applications. Some visa cancellations and delays have been reported, affecting applicants from certain countries.
  • Travel restrictions on certain nationals in previous U.S. policies have made it harder for some students to obtain an F-1 visa.
  • New application requirements, including additional paperwork such as social media screening in some cases, can delay approvals.

The U.S. high-skill immigration system typically begins with education, followed by temporary work, and then permanent residency

Optional Practical Training (OPT) for Work Experience

OPT is an employment authorization program for those who want to stay in the U.S. temporarily after completing their degrees in STEM or other eligible fields.  They can stay up to 12 – 36 months, depending on their major area of study.

Travelers should note that the OPT program has been the subject of policy discussions in the past, but no confirmed nationwide shortening has been implemented. It currently allows eligible students to work temporarily after graduation.

H-1B Visa for Foreign Professional

Professionals planning to move to the USA and start work usually need an H-1B visa. Recent policies related to such visas include

  • Increase in visa-related costs has been proposed or discussed in policy debates, including high fee proposals for certain petitions.
  • Priority will be given to higher-paid jobs during the visa lottery.
  • Visa stamping at U.S. consulates may sometimes require multiple visits depending on case complexity and administrative processing.

Employment-Based Green Cards (Permanent Residency)

Many skilled workers apply for a green card as a way to move permanently to the United States. They often choose EB visas to obtain a green card. Approval of these visas can face significant delays and backlogs due to annual caps and country limits.

  • Each year, there are annual limits imposed on visa issuance, and is determined by each country.
  • Travel plans can account for extended periods of temporary visa status while awaiting permanent residency.

Those traveling with H-1B and F-1 visas and planning to apply for adjustment of status as a permanent resident should always check embassies’ websites for new guidelines.

Tips for Travelers Visiting USA

  • Check the latest visa policy for your country
  • Never book your flight and accommodation before receiving a visa.
  • Make sure to provide the required documents, such as transcripts, bank statements, and job offers, and be prepared for additional screening requirements if requested.
  • Visa processing delays are common, so travelers should allow extra time for approvals and documentation.

The Trump administration’s policies have been reported to make the U.S. high-skill immigration pipeline more challenging. Thus, travel policies, additional fees, and program restrictions may delay your travel plans and hinder your employment prospects.

For travelers planning to fly to the United States, staying informed and planning ahead is essential. Check out Indian Eagle deals to book your international flights and start planning your U.S. study or work journey today.

Note: Always confirm your visa eligibility and processing times before booking flights or accommodations.

H1b Visa miss match sign rules 2026

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is planning a new rule that will change how the U.S. immigration agency, U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), verifies signatures on immigration forms. Starting July 10, 2026, the agency will use stricter and more consistent rules to make sure every signature on immigration applications is real and properly checked.

This update impacts several major immigration processes, including USA visa applications and immigration filings. It applies to the following:

  • H-1B work visa petitions
  • Green Card applications
  • Adjustment of status cases for individuals already living in the United States

Stronger enforcement for US immigration applications

Under the new USCIS signature rules 2026, signature issues will be reviewed more strictly than before. Even if a case is already accepted and under processing, officers may later identify signature defects and take action. Immigration applications such as H-1B visa petitions in the USA, Green Card sponsorship cases, and other USCIS filings may still be rejected during processing or denied after review begins. Minor signature errors will no longer be treated as harmless technical issues in USA immigration forms processing.

No correction allowed after filing USCIS immigration forms

A major change in the 2026 USCIS update is that applicants will not be allowed to fix signature mistakes after submission. Once an application is filed:

  • The signature becomes final and cannot be changed
  • Errors cannot be corrected or updated
  • The entire application must be refiled if a defect is found

The 2026 USCIS update increases risk for applicants submitting USCIS immigration forms in the USA, as filing fees may not be refunded and a new application may be required.

Who is affected by this USCIS rule change

The rule applies across multiple immigration categories in the United States, including:

  • Employment-based visas such as H-1B USA visa applications in the USA
  • Employer-sponsored Green Card USA immigration petitions
  • Adjustment of status USA immigration cases
  • Other immigration benefit requests handled by USCIS

Both applicants and employers must ensure proper compliance when submitting US immigration applications 2026.

Accepted ways to sign USCIS forms in 2026

USCIS will continue to accept several standard signature formats for immigration documents:

  • Handwritten (wet-ink) signatures on paper forms
  • Scanned copies of original handwritten signatures
  • Faxed or photocopied signed documents
  • Certain electronic signatures in authorized USCIS online filing systems

These remain valid for USCIS-approved signature methods for immigration forms in the USA.

Invalid signature types under USCIS rules

The following will not be accepted for US immigration forms signature requirements 2026:

  • Copy-paste or typed signatures
  • Digitally generated signature images or fonts
  • Signature stamps
  • Auto-generated or software-created signatures
  • Signatures made by someone other than the applicant or petitioner, including attorneys in most cases

Incorrect usage may lead to rejection of USA immigration visa applications in the USA.

Status of the rule

The new USCIS signature rule 2026 is still in the public comment stage, meaning feedback is being collected before final implementation. Once finalized, it is expected to take effect on July 10, 2026, impacting all future US immigration filings and visa applications.

Busiest Airports In World

May 2026 reveals some surprising trends in global aviation. While many rankings focus on passenger numbers, this list looks at flight activity, showing which airports handle the most aircraft movements each day. These airports highlight how airline strategies, regional networks, and hub operations make records. Whether you’re a frequent traveler, aviation enthusiast, or planning your next trip, these insights give a glimpse into the busiest airports in the world.

How Airport Rankings Are Measured?

Airport rankings can be measured in multiple ways, but this list focuses solely on total flight activity. Flight frequency is influenced by regional jets, short-haul domestic routes, and hub airline strategies. For instance, airports like Chicago O’Hare and Guangzhou may not always be the largest in passenger numbers but rank highly because of high daily flight counts and frequent regional connections.

List of Top 10 Busiest Airports by Flight Movements for May 2026

  1. Chicago O’Hare International Airport
  2. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport
  3. Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport
  4. Denver International Airport
  5. Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport
  6. Charlotte Douglas International Airport
  7. Shanghai Pudong International Airport
  8. Los Angeles International Airport
  9. Indira Gandhi International Airport
  10. Istanbul Airport

Chicago O’Hare International Airport

With over 82,000 two-way flights, O’Hare dominates global flight activity. United Airlines handles just over half of these operations, reflecting its role as a major US domestic and international hub. Daily, more than 2,600 flights take off or land, showing the airport’s central role in North American aviation.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport

Atlanta ranks second with 68,864 flights, most of them operated by Delta Airlines. Although ATL remains the world’s busiest airport by passengers, its flight movements are slightly lower than O’Hare due to the use of larger aircraft with fewer short-haul rotations.

Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport

DFW handles 62,510 flights, averaging around 2,000 per day. American Airlines dominates the hub, combining both long-haul and short-haul flights, making it a key domestic and international connection point.

Denver International Airport

Denver sees a total of 58,697 flights, with United Airlines being the main carrier at DEN. Being situated strategically at the center of the USA, DEN becomes a connection airport for passengers traveling within the central and western regions of America.

Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport

A remarkable change from last month is Guangzhou becoming the fifth busiest airport. CAN serves 46,160 flights, mostly across China. Dense regional connectivity has allowed Guangzhou to highlight the frequency over sheer passenger numbers.

Charlotte Douglas International Airport

CLT records 44,527 flights, heavily dominated by American Airlines. The airport’s focus on regional and domestic connections makes it one of the busiest hubs on the US East Coast.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport

Shanghai Pudong sees 44,212 flights, balancing long-haul international operations with frequent domestic services. Its flight movements are slightly lower than Guangzhou due to fewer regional short-haul flights.

Los Angeles International Airport

LAX handles 42,860 flights, with a mix of domestic and international routes. Frequent operations on California’s domestic network contribute to its high ranking.

Indira Gandhi International Airport

Delhi’s airport records 42,208 flights, driven by the growth of low-cost carriers like IndiGo and increasing domestic connectivity. India’s aviation market continues to expand rapidly.

Istanbul Airport

Istanbul sees 42,163 flights, with Turkish Airlines connecting Europe, Asia, and Africa. IST continues to grow as a major global transit hub, linking multiple continents efficiently.

Insights from May 2026 Rankings for Travelers

Frequent flyers and travel enthusiasts can use this data to optimize flight schedules, routes, and travel times. Understanding flight movement trends can help travelers:

  • Plan efficient layovers and connections
  • Identify high-frequency hubs for domestic or international travel
  • Make informed decisions when choosing airports for long-haul flights

The busiest airports in the World 2026 May show how global aviation is evolving. For travelers, understanding airport flight activity can help plan better connections and smoother trips. Whether flying for business, leisure, or adventure, knowing the busiest hubs makes travel easier and more efficient.

If you’re planning international travel, you can explore Indian Eagle deals on international flights. Make your journey seamless and memorable with the right flight and hub knowledge.
