  • Orthopedics
  • Rehabilitation

The new rankings are designed to help patients identify leading hospitals for complex care within their region.

How the Rankings Were Determined

The 2026–2027 rankings evaluated nearly 4,500 hospitals nationwide. Hospitals were assessed using measures such as:

  • Patient outcomes
  • Survival rates
  • Complication rates
  • Readmission rates
  • Patient safety
  • Nursing quality
  • Patient experience

This year’s methodology gives greater weight to patient outcomes than in previous editions.

U.S. News Honors Leading Medical Centers Nationwide

In addition to the regional rankings, U.S. News also:

  • Recognized 20 hospitals on its national Honor Roll.
  • Named 505 Best Regional Hospitals across the country.
