India’s civil aviation emerged as the third largest aviation market in the world, after the USA and China. The country is equipped with more than 480 airports and airstrips. A few international airports in India also earned recognition on a global stage as some of the busiest and the best in the world.
At the World Travel Awards 2022 held in Paris last month, Indira Gandhi International Airport was awarded ‘the best’ and ‘the cleanest’ airport in India/South Asia, and Rajiv Gandhi International Airport bagged the title of the ‘Best Airport Staff in India & South Asia’. Also, Delhi Airport stood at 37th position while Bengaluru Airport, Hyderabad Airport, and Mumbai Airport are ranked 61st, 63rd, and 65th respectively in the Skytrax list of the world’s best airports.
Here are the top airports in India that survived the pandemic and set themselves on the path of recovery, thus playing a major role in preparing the country’s aviation for post-pandemic travel.
