In just under a year, Akasa Air has soared to new heights, achieving a remarkable milestone by expanding its fleet to 20 aircraft. This achievement marks a significant moment for the airline as it now qualifies to embark on international operations, broadening its horizons to serve passengers worldwide.

Akasa Air’s Special Edition: The Boeing 737 MAX 8-200

The celebration at Akasa Air’s 20th Aircraft was twofold as it proudly welcomed the Boeing 737 MAX 8-200. Setting a new standard, Akasa becomes the first airline in Asia to incorporate this variant into its fleet. The arrival of the MAX 8-200 plane, with its specialized configuration, aligns seamlessly with Akasa’s low-cost business model, ensuring that passengers experience both quality and affordability.

The Akasa Air MAX 8-200 offers a remarkable advantage, accommodating several more passengers than its regular MAX 8 counterpart. Its spacious design allows up to 197 passengers to travel comfortably, compared to the typical 175 seats in a regular MAX 8. Moreover, the aircraft boasts an impressive 20% improvement in fuel efficiency per seat This contributes to a 5% reduction in operating costs compared to the traditional MAX 8.

Taking Flight Globally

With its exceptional growth over the past year, Akasa Air has made its mark on the Indian domestic market, capturing nearly 5% of market share. Surpassing SpiceJet in popularity, the airline has served over 4 million revenue passengers and expanded its network to encompass 35 unique routes, connecting 16 Indian cities with over 900 weekly flights.

The wait is over for Akasa Air’s international flights as it eagerly awaits the opportunity to embark on a journey. The induction of its 20th aircraft is a crucial step, as Indian regulations mandate airlines to possess at least 20 planes before venturing into overseas operations. In the coming months, Akasa aims to spread its wings and establish routes in the Middle East and possibly Southeast Asia, promising exciting new travel options for its valued passengers. And as it keeps enhancing its fleet, it may also consider adding flights on USA-India routes. This is essential to make the airline a strong competitor on the most popular international route.

While Akasa’s initial order of 72 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft cannot be compared to giants like Air India and IndiGo, it lays a solid foundation for sustainable growth in the years to come. As the airline continues to expand its fleet and reach, it strives to maintain a commitment to excellence and provide exceptional travel experiences for its customers.
