The upcoming fleet will feature state-of-the-art twin-aisle planes, including the highly anticipated Airbus A350s, equipped with cutting-edge onboard WiFi technology. Furthermore, Air India is in discussions to procure two additional Boeing 777s for immediate deployment. As the fleet expands, 17 widebody aircraft will bolster its size, with two others replacing retiring planes.  Notably, Air India new flights will not only undergo expansion but also receive significant interior enhancements. This critical step is aimed at reclaiming Air India’s standing as a prominent global airline, challenging the foreign competitors which have outpaced it in recent decades.

Air India has allocated a staggering $400 million towards improving the structural conditions of its planes, with the older aircraft set to undergo a complete change of interiors, replacing these with brand-new designs. The ambitious goal is for all of Air India’s twin-aisle planes to feature modern cabins with onboard WiFi by mid-2025.

The airline is expected to prioritize revamping its narrowbody fleet’s interiors with the addition of 50 new planes propelling Air India to boast nearly 75-80% of single-aisle planes as brand-new by September 2024. As Air India adds new flights, the remaining older planes will undergo a comprehensive facelift and join Air India Express, the carrier’s low-cost subsidiary.

Air India flight increase signifies an exciting chapter for the airline. With improved interiors and a fleet expansion, Air India is set to compete fiercely on the global stage once again!
