Planning a trip to Abu Dhabi from India? A new tourism initiative could help you save on your UAE visa cost. The Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has introduced a program that offers eligible Indian tourists a free UAE entry visa when they book a qualifying Abu Dhabi holiday through an online booking platform or participating travel agencies. Here is what Indian travelers should know before planning their trip.
What Is the Abu Dhabi Free UAE Visa Offer for Indians?
Under the new program, DCT Abu Dhabi will cover the UAE entry visa cost for eligible Indian tourists. Travelers who meet the requirements can receive the visa without paying the applicable fee. However, this does not mean the UAE has introduced visa-free entry for all Indian citizens. Authorities will still issue a visa for the trip, but DCT Abu Dhabi will cover its cost for eligible holiday bookings made through participating travel partners.
Who Is Eligible for the Free UAE Visa?
Indian travelers may qualify if they meet all the program requirements:
- Hold a valid Indian passport
- Depart from India
- Book through an online travel agency or participating travel agency
- Stay for at least 3 consecutive nights at a hotel in Abu Dhabi
- Include a return flight from India in the qualifying booking
When Is the Abu Dhabi Visa Offer Available?
The pilot program runs from August 1 to October 31, 2026. DCT Abu Dhabi plans to support up to 20,000 visas during this initial period. Since the offer has a fixed limit, travelers should confirm availability with their travel provider before booking. Not every Abu Dhabi reservation made during this period will automatically qualify. Your package must meet the program requirements and be booked through an online travel agency or participating travel partner.
How Can Indian Travelers Get the Complimentary Visa?
Travelers must book through an online travel platform or participating travel agency instead of applying directly. The process is simple:
- Find a participating travel partner
- Book at least three consecutive hotel nights in Abu Dhabi
- Include a return flight from India
- Submit the required travel documents
- Allow the travel partner to process the visa
How Much Does the Program Cover?
Abu Dhabi will pay the full visa fee for travelers with qualifying bookings. Travel partners can process visas through a DCT-appointed Destination Management Company, with DCT paying the fee directly. Partners that continue using their existing DMCs can receive a reimbursement of AED 285 for each qualifying visa issued. For travelers, the key point is simple: if your booking qualifies, you should not have to pay the covered visa fee separately.
Is the UAE Now Visa-Free for All Indians?
No. The announcement does not allow every Indian passport holder to enter the UAE without a visa. This initiative is a tourism promotion that covers the visa cost for eligible Abu Dhabi holidays. Separate UAE tourist visa and visa-on-arrival rules still apply. Travelers should check the visa category that applies to them before departure and review the latest UAE entry requirements.
Is This the Same as a UAE Visa on Arrival for Indians?
No. These are different facilities. Some Indian passport holders may qualify for a UAE visa on arrival if they meet specific immigration conditions. The Abu Dhabi initiative, however, applies to eligible holiday packages booked through participating travel providers. The difference is:
- Visa on arrival: An immigration facility for travelers who meet the UAE’s eligibility conditions.
- Abu Dhabi complimentary visa program : A tourism initiative in which DCT Abu Dhabi covers the visa cost for qualifying holiday bookings.
Eligibility for one does not automatically make you eligible for the other.
What If You Book Only a Flight to Abu Dhabi?
A flight-only booking does not meet the published requirements of this promotion. To qualify, travelers need an eligible Abu Dhabi holiday package that includes at least three consecutive hotel nights and a return flight from India. Booking only a hotel also does not guarantee the benefit. Confirm the offer with your travel provider before making payment.
What Can You See During a Three-Night Abu Dhabi Trip?
A three-night stay gives travelers enough time to explore several popular attractions across the UAE capital. You can visit the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque, explore art and culture at Louvre Abu Dhabi, spend time along the Abu Dhabi Corniche, or plan a day on Yas Island. Families can visit Ferrari World Abu Dhabi and Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, while travelers interested in history and culture can explore Qasr Al Watan and other heritage attractions.
Since the program requires at least three consecutive hotel nights, travelers can turn the trip into a short Abu Dhabi city break instead of using the emirate only as a transit point.
For Indian travelers already planning a UAE holiday, this program can reduce the overall trip cost by covering the eligible entry visa fee. Before booking, confirm that your travel partner participates in the program and that your itinerary meets the hotel stay and return flight requirements.
