Hi Angela! Entry to India requires either full-vaccination or a negative RT-PCR test report. But we have little idea about Colombo’s entry requirements.

Hi Prasad! Passengers transiting in risk countries are subject to post-arrival testing in India.

Hi Venkat! The guidelines are more or less the same. All international arrivals, though they are COVID negative and asymptomatic, are subject to home-quarantine for 7 days.

I read an article that home quarantine rule in India of 7 days for foreigners from at risk or low risk countries has been lifted provided the visitor tests negative for the RT-PCRT test. This rule has gone into effect Jan 22. Is this accurate information? I plan to travel to Chennai soon.
Please advise
Venkat

AS per Indian Govt guidelines document dated 20 Jan 2022 – it says ( page 2)
v. Passengers originating or transiting from at-risk countries shall be informed by the airlines
that they will undergo post arrival testing, quarantine if tested negative, stringent isolation
protocols if tested positive etc. as mentioned in para (xviii)

Thus transisting passengers via risk countries -are also included for on arrival Covid testing? Please guide.

Last year in March 2021 when I travelled from the US to India the guidance I received on this forum was very helpful.
I came to the US in July 2021 and had my return flight on 16th Jan 2022 morning. I booked for PCR test at two locations – one with CVS Pharmacy on 13th Jan morning and another at Questdiagnostics on 14th Jan morning.
When we went to Questdagnostics we were told that they are running out of stock for the swabs and can not do the test. For CVS pharmacy report we waited till 15th Jan late night and as reports were not received we had to cancel our trip to India. We received report ( negative ) on 17th Jan
Now we plan to reschedule the trip in Feb or March.
My questions are
1) We understood on payment basis ( test cost $ 120-200 ) we can get reports in 1-2 hours
What is the difference between regular RT-PCR and Rapid RT-PCR , Which test is accepted at airport in India?
2) Do you know now next time where we should go for the test ( may be paid too and not through insurance) so that we are sure to get reports in 1-2 days in time before our departure time.

There is heavy load for Covid tests in the US.
I explanined my problem in detail so that others too get informed
regards
Prasad

Hi Pavan! You are not subject to post-arrival testing at an entry airport in India if

You are fully-vaccinated, COVID negative and asymptomatic
You have not been to a country at risk in the past 15 days
You don’t transit via a country at risk while traveling to India
You are not identified among 2% of the total passengers for random testing on arrival.

You are required to carry your vaccine proof/certificate (original), negative RT-PCR report (must be uploaded on Air Suvidha too), and a few color printouts of the filled self-declaration form on Air Suvidha.
