It is JUST a MATTER of time, if India aspires to be among the top 3 economies of the world then it would be imparitive to allow dual citizenship. Dual Citizenship means India recogonizes the world as a global village. With this action there would be humongous inflows of investmensts and India would become a global hub.

Indian origin people are being appointed as CEO’s of multinational companies and also going on to be PM’s of developed countries. It’ s high time India gives dual citizenship to people so that these people also can contribute in the development of India and its journey towards change.

2. Security Issues with near by neighbours
3. Enhancing and robusting economy,
India must start Dual Citizenship esp. with QUAD Countries.

Completely agree with the brothers and sisters’ opinions in favour of dual citizenship. Dual citizenship can be opened for only Indians by birth or having OCI, instead people get registered based on certain sections, in this way nation’s security will be maintained.

Hope Modi Sarkar can take up this challange to grant Indian citizenship to so many expratres who in most cases took the citizenship of the foreign country due to employment or other reasons. They are still patriotic and feel a very close connection with India. If the problem is to weed out terrorists etc then maybe a testing or interview process with each application for citizenhip should be put in place. I think this is a win-win for both India and the diasporia,

Our Constitution needs to change with time just like our judiciary system needs to. We need to recognize that if powerful nations allow their citizens to have dual passports, why not us? India looks up to bringing money into the country by Indian citizens settled abroad, then why not give them some privileges? If one looks at the workforce in the Middle East and else where and the wealth they contribute towards their country back home. Politicians, please look at this and make it happen.

We had to give our citizenship for the right to work we wanted without needing to go through a kind arduous process which employees would not do. And also nice between the 2 different countries on our tiny island. But because of this we are not allowed to vote or buy land. This is a huge missed opportunity for india as they are missing out on a lot of contribution from NRI's

HOW CAN ONE EXPECT OCI CITIZENS BE UNFAITHFUL TO THEIR COUNTRY OF BIRTH? THEY MUST BE GIVQEN POWER TO VOTE, STAND IN ELECTION & HOLD GOVT. POSTS AS ENJOED BY THE RESIDENT INDIANS. THEY BRING IN HUGE AMOUNT OF FOREIGN EXCHANGE WHICH ARE USED FOR NATION BUILDING. HENCE, THEY SHOULD BE GIVEN DUAL CITIZENS WITHOUTD ANY DELAY.ONLY BJP GOVT CAN DO THIS TO BRIGHTEN THE EXPECTATIONS OF OCI CARD HOLDERS SPREAD FAR AND WIDE. IF DUAL CITIZENSHIPS GRANTED TO THEM THEY NOT ONLY BRING EXCHANGE THEY ALSO BRING IN EXPERTISES FOR TECHNOLOGICAL FIELDS. THEY WONT BE THREAT TO INDIA’S SOVEREIGNTY, INEGRITY & SECURITY. THE ARE ALREADY INDIAN CITIZENS BY BECOMING OCI INDIAN CITIZENS AND NO NEED TO TAKE OATH OF ALLEGIENCE; THEY SHOULD ONLY SURRENDER OCI CARD AND OBTAIN INDIAN PASSPORT. DUAL CITIZENSHIPS SHOULD EXCLUDE PAKISTANEES, BANGALADESHEES & CHINEES. AS MR. THAROOR SUGGESTED ARTICLE 9 OF THE CITIZENSHIP LAW SHOULD BE SCRAPED.
