India too has started launching new systems at international airports to facilitate passenger check-ins and travel. It will allow passengers to validate their boarding pass too. To start with; AirAsia and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/flights\/airline\/vistara-uk-deals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Vistara<\/a> have integrated their systems with the app as part of the testing process.<\/p>\n<p>It is a tech based on \u2018<strong>Facial Recognition Technology\u2019<\/strong>. This tech is getting a lot of traction around major airports worldwide. The reason is that it allows passengers to check-in at airports in a contactless manner and makes the entire security clearance process seamless. Such tech is also referred to as \u2018<strong>Biometric Enabled Seamless Travel\u2019<\/strong> or BEST experience.<\/p>\n<p>When signing up on the app; passengers require to link it with their Aadhaar. Then they need to upload a photograph of themselves along with their boarding pass before traveling. Some other documents may also be necessary for traveling purposes. Passengers registered on the app need to simply scan their faces at the cameras installed at the airport to enable facial recognition and pass through the entrance as well as the security gates.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Initial_Rollout_of_the_DigiYatra_App\"><\/span><strong>Initial Rollout of the DigiYatra App<\/strong><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The initial rollouts were planned for Delhi Airport (DIAL) and Bangalore Airport (BIAL). The testing of the app has been going on at both these airports. Authorities at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/flights\/cheap-flights-to-indira-gandhi-international-airport-del\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Indira Gandhi International Airport<\/a> at Delhi carried out testing of the app with more than 20,000 passengers. Only when the testing was successful; the beta version was launched at the Delhi Airport.<\/p>\n<p>The trial phase has been ongoing at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.indianeagle.com\/flights\/cheap-flights-to-bengaluru-international-airport-blr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Kempegowda International Airport<\/a> in Bengaluru since 2017. BIAL is one of the stakeholders of the Digi Yatra Foundation. The roll out was planned for 15<sup>th<\/sup> August, 2022 and was successful.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers can register on the app before their journey. Their travel data will be deleted from the app once the journey is complete and within 24 hours. This has been planned to protect the privacy of the passengers. As of now, the app is available for android. Soon the iOS version will also be launched. At IGIA; it is currently available only at Terminal 3 and for domestic passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Eventually, DigiYatra will be rolled-out on a pan-India basis. This <strong>contactless airport tech in India<\/strong> is certainly made to streamline security processes at the airport and provide more convenience to passengers.<\/p>\n<p>Indian Airports are constantly upgrading their tech and processes.
