American Airlines has announced the rollout of electronic boarding gates at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). The new system will begin deployment this summer at the airline\u2019s largest hub following a successful pilot program conducted in November 2025.<\/span><\/p>\n

The technology will be introduced in the new Terminal C Pier Expansion at DFW, with additional installations planned across Terminals A and C as part of the airport\u2019s ongoing modernization project. With this initiative, American Airlines will be the first major U.S. network carrier to deploy electronic boarding gates at scale in a major hub.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Self-Service Boarding Gates Work<\/b><\/h2>\n

The new gates use dormakaba\u2019s Argus Air XS technology to automate key parts of the boarding process. Instead of manually scanning boarding passes, travellers need to present their boarding passes or mobile QR codes, after which the system validates the tickets electronically before opening the gate.
