If you are planning to work in the United States through the H-1B program, there is an important update you should know about. The US government has introduced a H-1B visa wage based new rule and updated the main form employers use to sponsor foreign workers.<\/span><\/p>\n

As part of this change, the US revises Form I-129 for H-1B visa petitions. The USCIS revised Form I-129 April 2026 version will become mandatory from April 1, 2026. After this date, employers must use the new form when filing H-1B petitions. Older versions will not be accepted.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is Wage Based H1B Visa System\u00a0<\/b><\/h2>\n

Until now, the H-1B program mostly used a random lottery when the number of applications was higher than the yearly limit. The H1B new rule April 2026 may change how applicants are selected. The selection process could now also consider the wage level of the job being offered. This is often called H1B lottery wage based selection, where the salary and job level can affect how many chances an applicant gets in the selection process.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
