If you love to enjoy a snack or drink mid-air, there’s some good news coming your way, especially if you’re an American Airlines AAdvantage member.

American Airlines has introduced a new option for travelers to redeem AAdvantage miles for inflight snacks and drinks. This new option lets passengers use their miles for treats onboard, making flying more enjoyable and flavorful.

How does AAdvantage miles work?

Starting now, American Airlines AAdvantage members can redeem as few as 500 miles to purchase snacks or beverages on board American Airlines mainline flights and this excludes flights operated by American Eagle. That means if you’re flying domestically and looking to enjoy something beyond the complimentary options, your miles can now cover the cost.

To use this perk, make sure your AAdvantage number is added to your booking before travel. Once onboard, show your digital or printed boarding pass to the flight attendant, who will scan it to deduct the miles. They’ll scan it, and the cost of miles will be deducted directly from your account.

What snacks does American Airlines serve?

While American Airlines snacks vary depending on the flight length, here’s a quick idea of what you might find:
