Starting January 1, 2025, New US Embassy Visa Rules will reshape the appointment policy in India, addressing delays and prioritizing fair access. By addressing issues like rescheduling misuse and unnecessary cancellations, these changes will streamline the process and improve efficiency. The embassy urges applicants to plan their appointments carefully to align with the updated system.

Key Changes Under the New Policy

The New Visa Appointment Policy permits a single reschedule without additional charges. However, missing the rescheduled appointment or requesting another change will require applicants to rebook and pay the $185 (Rs 15,730) application fee again. This update replaces the previous system, which allowed three reschedules annually.

The embassy stated that these changes aim to simplify and speed up the appointment process, encouraging applicants to attend their scheduled appointments to maintain efficiency and fairness for everyone.
