Qatar Airways has added Starlink Wi-Fi to its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner fleet. With this upgrade, Qatar Airways now has 150 widebody aircraft with Starlink Wi-Fi. More than half of its Boeing 787 fleet offers the service. The rollout will give more passengers access to free, high-speed internet on long-haul international flights.

Qatar Airways Starlink on Boeing 787-9

The carrier first introduced Starlink in October 2024. The airline later added it to its Boeing 777, Airbus A350 and Boeing 787-8 aircraft. It is now the first airline to offer Starlink on a Boeing 787-9.It also completed the installation across its Boeing 787-8 fleet in seven months. Qatar Airways plans to equip its remaining Boeing 787 aircraft by the end of 2026.

What Can Passengers Do With Starlink Wi-Fi?

Starlink provides internet speeds of up to 500 Mbps on eligible flights. Passengers can use the connection at an altitude of around 35,000 feet to:

• Send messages and emails
• Browse websites and social media
• Stream movies and videos
• Download or upload files
• Stay connected with family and friends
• Complete office work during the flight
• Join online meetings when conditions allow

Is This Wi-Fi Free?

The airline provides Starlink Wi-Fi free of charge on equipped aircraft. Passengers may need to log in or enroll in Qatar Airways Privilege Club to access it. Travelers can use the internet from boarding until arrival where local rules allow gate-to-gate connectivity. However, gate-to-gate internet may not be available at some airports due to local regulations.

The carrier may also change the scheduled aircraft for operational reasons. Passengers should check their flight details before departure to confirm whether their aircraft offers Starlink.
