Dubai International Airport (DXB) has added a new facility for passengers arriving at Terminal 3. Uber and Dubai Airports have opened a dedicated waiting lounge at the terminal’s main ride-hailing pickup location. The space is intended for passengers using Uber and Careem rides. It gives them an indoor place to wait until their vehicle arrives. The facility is particularly useful during Dubai’s summer. The lounge provides air conditioning and seating away from the outdoor pickup area. 

Dedicated Ride Pickup Lounge 

Instead of waiting at the curb, passengers can use the dedicated facility. The lounge is positioned close to the pickup point, so travelers do not have to move far when their ride arrives. It also helps separate waiting passengers from moving vehicles. This can support smoother traffic around the pickup area. For UberX and Careem Comfort passengers, the facility includes an organized queuing system. PIN-based dispatch is used as part of the pickup process.

Facilities Inside the Lounge 

The facility has been designed for passengers who may need to rest or recharge after a flight. Key amenities include: 

• Cooling and air purification: The indoor area is fully air-conditioned and fitted with air purifiers.
• Seating with luggage space: Benches are designed to accommodate passengers traveling with larger bags.
• Tables and high seating: Travelers can sit at raised tables or use high chairs while waiting.
• Device charging: USB-C, USB-A and conventional power sockets are available.

These features make the lounge useful for both leisure and business travelers.

Better Management of Busy Pickup Zones 

The project also addresses congestion at busy airport pickup zones. A dedicated waiting area can keep more passengers away from the pickup curb. This can reduce unnecessary crowding and help drivers locate their riders more easily. The initiative is being carried out with support from the Dubai Civility Committee. It aligns with efforts to improve order, appearance, and service standards across the emirate. 

First Phase of a Larger Ground Transport Plan 

The Terminal 3 lounge is the first stage of a broader ground transportation initiative. Uber and Dubai Airports are expected to introduce additional passenger-focused features in the coming weeks. For travelers arriving at Terminal 3, the change is simple. They now have an indoor, air-conditioned place to wait before continuing their journey by Uber or Careem.
