The Mobile Passport Control (MPC) app can be used at select U.S. ports of entry, including airports, seaports, and pedestrian land border crossings. MPC services

MPC is also operational at major cruise and maritime entry points in Florida and Puerto Rico:

  • Port of Miami (MSE)
  • Port Everglades, Fort Lauderdale (PEV)
  • Port of Palm Beach (WPB)
  • Port of San Juan (SAJ)

These locations primarily serve cruise passengers and maritime travelers entering the United States.

Pedestrian Land Border Crossings (4 locations)

More recently, MPC has been expanded to select pedestrian crossings along the U.S.–Canada border in Washington State, allowing eligible travelers to submit information before inspection.

  • Peace Arch pedestrian crossing (Blaine, WA)
  • Pacific Highway pedestrian crossing (Blaine, WA)
  • Lynden–Aldergrove pedestrian crossing (Lynden, WA / Aldergrove, BC)
  • Sumas pedestrian crossing (Sumas, WA)

These Mobile Passport Control locations allow eligible travelers to save time by simplifying pre-arrival processing at select entry points.

MPC is a mobile application developed by the U.S. Customs and Border Protection. It is important to understand that it is not a visa, not a travel authorization, and it does not guarantee entry into the United States.

Instead, it functions as a pre-arrival screening tool. Travelers use the app to submit their information in advance, which allows them to complete part of the inspection process before arriving at the border checkpoint.

FAQs

Can I use MPC if I am entering the U.S. for the first time?

Yes, eligible travelers can use MPC, but the final admission decision is always made by a CBP officer at the port of entry.

Does MPC work at both arrival and departure airports?

No, MPC is only used for entering the United States. It cannot be used for departures.

Do I still need to show my passport after using MPC?

Yes, travelers must still present their physical passport or travel documents for verification by CBP officers.

Can families or groups use one MPC submission?

Yes, the app allows one submission per household, so families traveling together can be included in a single entry.

Can non-U.S. citizens use MPC without ESTA?

No, eligible foreign travelers must still have valid authorization such as ESTA under the Visa Waiver Program.

What happens if I don’t use the MPC lane after submission?

If the MPC lane is unavailable or unused, travelers are processed through standard CBP lanes instead.
