Boston Logan International Airport (BOS) is planning to launch a remote TSA screening pilot program starting June 1. The program allows passengers to complete airport security off-site before arriving at Logan Airport.

The remote facility is located in Framingham, Massachusetts, about 25 miles from Boston Logan Airport. The program is operated by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) and is described as the first off-airport TSA screening and secure bus transfer service in the U.S. 

Remote Airport Check-in and Secure Bus Transfer System 

The Logan Airport Remote Terminal (Framingham) allows passengers to finish key airport steps before traveling to BOS Airport.

At the Framingham facility, passengers will:

• Arrive at the remote airport terminal
• Complete airline check-in
• Drop off checked baggage
• Go through TSA security screening
• Board a secure shuttle bus to Boston Logan Airport

After TSA screening, passengers remain in a secure, post-security travel system during the bus ride.

Arrival at the Airport 

Once they arrive at Logan, passengers enter the secure part of the airport right away and do not go through TSA again. Where passengers are dropped off depends on the airline:

• Delta Air Lines passengers arrive at Gate A18 in Terminal A
• JetBlue Airways passengers arrive at Gate C8 in Terminal C

From there, travelers can go straight to their departure gates since they have already completed security screening at the remote terminal.

Who Can Use the Service 

During the pilot phase, the service is part of a limited pilot program and is only available to select passengers and flights. Space is limited, and not everyone can use it yet.  Here are the key details: 

• Only Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways passengers can use it
• Flights must depart between 5:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.
• Capacity is limited since this is a pilot program

Because of limited availability, Massport recommends booking early, since seats may fill up quickly.

Cost and Parking (Framingham Remote Terminal)

The service includes a shuttle option and parking at the Framingham site. It is mainly designed for MetroWest Massachusetts travelers who want an easier way to reach Logan Airport.  Here are the costs:

• Shuttle service: $9 each way (operated by Landline Company)
• Parking at Framingham: $7 per day

Booking Process 

Passengers need to book this service through Massport’s website. The process is simple and done online before travel. To book, passengers:

• Visit Massport Remote Terminal booking page and click Purchase Tickets
• Choose their airline (Delta or JetBlue)
• Enter the number of passengers
• Add flight details

After booking, the system will assign a recommended bus time. Buses are scheduled to arrive at Logan Airport at least 45 minutes before flight departure.

• You can book as late as 90 minutes before departure (if space is available)

For the return trip, passengers can use the Logan Express Framingham (LEX) service. It provides an easy way to get back from the airport to the Framingham terminal. Return travel details include:

• Pickups are available curbside at all Logan Airport terminals
• Tickets can be purchased through Massport’s booking system
