Lakshmanan Meyyappan is an Indian finance professional who attracted global attention after being recognized by Guinness World Records as the youngest male Chartered Accountant in the world. He achieved the record in Dubai at the age of 16. 

How did he become a Chartered Accountant at 16? 

Meyyappan’s journey began during the COVID-19 pandemic, shortly after he completed his 10th-grade board examinations. He began studying accounting and pursuing the ACCA qualification during this period. 

He subsequently began studying for the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) qualification. According to reports, he completed the qualification in approximately one year. He was still in school during this period. 

His own LinkedIn post says that at 15 he had initially imagined pursuing swimming records, but a year later he had completed ACCA and received recognition from Guinness World Records. He also credited his teachers at PwC Academy Middle East for their support.

Guinness World Records officially lists Meyyappan Lakshmanan as the Youngest Chartered Accountant (male).

What qualification did he actually complete? 

Meyyappan completed the ACCA qualification. ACCA is a globally recognized professional accountancy qualification. 

Guinness uses the title “Youngest chartered accountant (male),” while some media reports describe him as the youngest Chartered Accountant in the world. This distinction is worth explaining because ACCA is a professional accountancy qualification and is different from India’s ICAI Chartered Accountancy qualification. 

ACCA’s own published list of new members also includes Lakshmanan Meyyappan among members who qualified in October 2025. 

Career after the world record 

Meyyappan did not stop with ACCA. He later pursued the CFA qualification and became a CFA charterholder. His professional profile currently identifies him as a CFA charterholder and ACCA professional. He is associated with Century Financial in Dubai, where his work involves areas such as:
