Indian-American community in the New York tri-state region celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15, 2026, with large-scale patriotic and cultural events across New York and New Jersey. FIA is one of the prominent Indian-American community organizations in the region and is also behind the annual India Day Parade in New York City. FIA has described its 2026 leadership and community activities as part of its broader effort to strengthen Indian-American engagement in the region. 

The Consulate General of India in New York and FIA have collaborated on other community events as well. For example, FIA participated in the Consulate General of India’s Republic Day celebration in New York in 2026. 

The “250” Flag Display

The Parsippany celebration combined the two important anniversaries through a large-scale flag display.
